Charity had found herself at the three broomsticks a little past curfew, having completely lost track of the time as she read Jane Austen’s “Sense and Sensibility”. She didn’t often let herself read these books without charming them so no one knew she had a fondness for muggle literature, however, she felt fairly confident that no one would spot her here at this hour.
While she hadn’t intended on staying out past curfew, especially given she’s a prefect, she didn’t yet feel the need to return to the castle. When the waiter interrupted her train of thought to ask if she wanted a refill of her drink, she looked up with a small nod of her head accompanied by a soft response; “That would be great, thank you.” As the waiter walked off towards the bar, she heard the bell at the door ring as it opened and took a quick glance at who walked in.
When she saw the familiar face and scruffy black hair, a small smile curled up at the corners of her lips and she felt her cheeks heat slightly with the faint blush that crept across them. Charity hadn’t admitted to even herself yet that she might actually be falling for the boy her parents set her up with; to admit they might have been right would be so far out of her realm of possibility that she hadn’t even entertained the idea. However, whether she wanted to admit it or not the signs were all there; and to anyone that took a closer glance at her, they were starting to become glaringly obvious.
“Sirius.” Charity called out softly through the emptying tavern. As the evening drew on the patrons inside were thinning and her voice echoed lightly through the room. “What has you out after curfew?” She teased lightly, looking up at the boy with some hope that he might stay and talk for even just a few spare moments.
