Anne of Austria when she was pregnant with Louis XIV painted by Charles Beaubrun
Reportedly, Louis was said to be an active baby. Anne started to feel him kicking in the month of April when she was about four months pregnant. Little did she know, this baby would turn out to be the monarch who changed France.
As this baby grew into an adult, he made Paris the fashion capital of the world, French an international language, some of the first pension laws, he created a national French military, and he built the foundation for a French nation-state.
Of course, though, he also created immense amounts of debt for his building projects and wars, so the common people eventually became upset. His successors have built on this pre-existing debt with their wars, which ultimately led to the French Revolution and the founding of the republic.
