IM ALIVE SUCKS-YES! Delia (Bailey Frankenberg) and Charles (Jeff Brooks)!!

This piece has been killing my for like a month omg but it’s finally done!! there’s 21 hours on this canvas when most of my drawings take around 10. the colors are fun but so annoying at the same time aaahhh

i love all the patterns and stuff in beetlejuice, but i also hate them bc they’re so annoying to draw. if Delia’s dress pattern is weird, no it’s not. shhhh

next week i’ll being seeing beetlejuice the musical live and i can’t wait!! i hope they have stage door so i can give the actors the drawings i’ve done! AAHHH i’m so excited, i’m bringing my giant crocheted sand worm and dressing up too

I’m going to watch Beetlejuice Beetlejuice again tonight and fucking cry when Delia says she’s going to haunt Lydia and Astrid.

Also, found it lowkey wholesome when Delia and Charles reunite, and she doesn’t comment on half his body being missing. Sure, she comments about herself instead, but she doesn’t even flinch that he’s missing his upper half

Chapter five of Catabasis, my Beetlejuice / Severance AU!

THIS CHAPTER IS PARTICULARLY ROUGH. PLEASE READ THE WARNINGS ATTACHED TO THE CHAPTER. YOUR MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS AND SO DO YOU.

- The chapter’s title is defined above! It’s 1000% pertaining to Betel. How he felt the call to.. y’know. Go into the void, since he was unable to handle the whole Thing anymore.

- “Adam just about leaps out of his chair to rush to check on her. Charles catches the way his cheeks flush as she collapses against him, her arms folded tightly against her chest. He wraps his arms around her and gives her back a few hearty pats when she ambles over to him and repeats the motion.” - notice how in this chapter, the innies are getting muuuuch more touchy with each other…

- “He offers her what he hopes is a comforting smile when she looks up at him, her usually vivid blue eyes dull and wet and almost pleading.” - the severed yearn for a father figure…

- “When all his- his coworkers, of course, are all in - ” - he almost called them “his ducklings”. Or like, “kids”.

- “His eyes barely flitted up to meet Charles’ own. “… hey, Chuck.” His voice sounded exorbitantly more raspy and grating without any of the bite, any of the jest or jaunt. “How’ws your morn’ goin’?” ” - inspired partially by a scene in “Weapons” that broke my heart.

- Betel’s accent - yes, it’s very jarring on purpose. Very different from his usual accent, as well as any other characters’. Inspired by Benoit Blanc and Carrie Anne Camera from “Longlegs”. It’s a very strange one! It will be relevant later!!

- Change in tense / writing - reiterating that it’s on purpose that it’s shifting, to mirror how the characters are shifting and growing with their perspectives!

- “ “I’s just… curious. I tore a page out of a book talkin’ about…” he swallows hard and shakes his head. “I stashed it in the bathroom. Thought I’s get to have a looksy later.” ” - he is embarrassed to admit it was something talking about love, and that he was curious about it

- “He can only imagine how overwhelming it was for the poor man, with how sensitive he seemed to be to environments and their changes.” - it’s the autism, but innie Charles doesn’t know what that is

- “He carefully cracks open the front cover, immediately hit with a pleasant, musty scent. It activates a ghost of a memory, something warm and fuzzy he could never hope to shape into something tangible.” - a reference to the book being something from his outie’s life, but also mostly the joke in the musical about new car smell vs old book smell!

- “No idea. It wasn’t in Conference Room 37-B yesterday, but it was just… left on the table in there today!” - Ms. Schlimmer forgot it there after sorting through it bc she was very upset

- “Eventually she picked up a round, tan object, one adorned with metal bits along the sides.” - it’s a tambourine!!

- “… thumbing through a drawer filled with round, black discs in paper sleeves.” … “She placed the proper disc in a strange little machine with a glass lid, through which they could see a needle ghosting the surface of the disc as it spun.” - those are records and that is a record player, but they don’t know that lol. Hence why Charles called them “discs”.

- “( Her voice, her face, her protective rage, it was all he could think about. The music dug into his ears and under his skin, prying the broiling desperation free. )” - a brief little Betel POV

- “Get it-” - yeah he called Betel an “it”. One of his pronouns is eventually “it”, but Mr. Fenlock doesn’t know that. He’s just an asshole
