CLASSIC GENERATION IS OVER!
… now it’s time for the next generation to take place: the Dandy Generation.
Charles Daniel Ward - The Progress of Spring (1905)
As he carried the young woman in his arms, Charles let appear a smile that did not go unnoticed.
“What is going on?” asked Blanche, amused.
“I have something to tell you.” said Charles, continuing to walk. It seemed that he had a clear idea of where to stop, but that the couple hadn’t yet reached its final destination.
“You seem very mysterious. I'm listening.”
He walked a few more meters then stopped.
“Don’t take it badly, but you're fired.”
“What?!”
Blanche frowned. It was time for Charles to rest her on the ground. Their walk took suddenly less pleasant tunes.
“I thought about it, and I don’t want you to be exposed anymore. I want to take care of you. And I will. But not like that.”
At the other end of town, another man had also returned home, and had been greeted with the same emotion. Charles had again found his true love and his three daughters who had grown tremendously. “You're here ... I cannot believe you're really here.” managed to articulate Blanche between two sobs.
“It's over, I'll never leave again, I promise you.” he said with extraordinary sincerity that came from his guts while stroking his wife's hair.
Ambre died of old age, or perhaps of sorrow, or both at the same time.
One morning, she had just stopped breathing and stayed asleep forever. Her daughter, Mary, was welcomed by the Wards. Although they were no longer young either, they promised to raise her as if she were their own daughter.
It was as if the weight of the war had made everyone grow old once it was over. No doubt there was some truth in it ...
Meet the cute lil’ Wynter.

[Part 4/4]
"... you’re my soft spot.”
Without waiting, he pressed his lips to hers, one hand against her cheek. She hugged him slightly at first, under the surprise, before wrapping her arms around his neck. And in the light of the lamppost, a passer-by couldn’t have imagined it to be their first kiss.
