Beautiful #fountainpen & #watercolor #urbansketch by Instagram artist, @hillkurtz, of the Petit Palais museum in Paris, France. The building was designed by Charles Girault at the end of the 1800s, and it opened at the turn of the 20th century. The rough urbansketcher drawing style provides just enough structure to the drawing to let you know that it is a building, while the loose application of watercolor paint gives it all kind of an abstract feeling and makes the colors appear like they are free-flowing across the paper, seeking to create something new all by themselves. It gives you the impression that you are moving passed the structure at pace, causing the tones to blur together. Alternatively, when viewed from a distance, the colors and light lines appear like a building that your eyes are trying to focus passed, as though there is something just beyond the statue that you want to look at. I love the colors, and find the whole piece to be quite calming.
