Being super cannon divergent is. Interesting sometimes? I’m Charles from hazbin hotel— yes you read that right, Charles not Charlie that’s my name now and in cannon, I’m agender and I was hell’s rebel prince. I still had the hotel and all that but it was different. I knew heaven’s system was unjust and the hotel was for those who had been unfairly condemned. I was angry. I knew change could be made. There had been fringe cases of redemption in my cannon and I knew it could happen, heaven just didn’t want to acknowledge it— that’s why the exterminations started actually. It was an easy way to get rid of the weaker demons who had basically no power because they didn’t deserve hell, pretend they were solving the problem, and try to get rid of hell. There’s a lot I could get into here but I’ll save that for another time. The hotel wasn’t some pretty princess pipe dream it was fucking hard but it was an actual way to create change in an unjust system. Sinners can be redeemed if one— this one is for the actual people who deserved to be condemned— they acknowledge their sins, feel remorse for them, and make up for their actions in some way. This doesn’t work for everyone of course, some demons are genuinely irredeemable but plenty who did bad things in life can grow as people still. Or two, the ones wrongfully condemned for things like killing in self defense or stealing to live can be redeemed because they never actually sinned—well everyone sins in some form it comes with being human— but it’s not greed if someone steals for basic needs and it’s not wrath if someone kills because they have no other option. Of course heaven has their black and white views of everything and simply set the parameters for hell as any sort of thing they viewed as bad regardless of if the person actually sinned or not. Hell is supposed to be punishment for genuine wrongdoing but really I suppose if you look all the way back to Lucifer and the apple you can see that heaven really just decided that hell— which was a thing anyways, for there to be a heaven there must also be a hell— and decided it was the “anything they didn’t like” pit. Again there’s more I could go but I’m fucking tired so I’ll continue the cannon lore dump later
