Trip to Baler (Day 2)
We were set to go to 'Mother' Falls, and the largest Balete Tree in Asia, for our last day in Baler, Quezon. The tricycle drivers told us that it will be quite the trek going to the falls, so we decided to leave right after breakfast.
It took us 30 minutes going there, and mind you, it was a tough ride. The road was so rocky, we had to brace for our dear lives and just pray for it to be over. A piece of advice, ride behind the tricycle driver. It is less shaky there.
Even river trekking was a challenge. I have done river trekking when I was still in college, but the trail going to the Mother Falls is more challenging. Our group was just wearing slippers, so we really had to watch our steps.
After an eternity of walking, we finally reached the 'Mother' Falls. The water was nice, and surprisingly, there was quite a number of people when we went there. So if you're going on a weekend, it would be better for you to get there early to avoid the crowd.
Our next stop was the 600+ year old Balete Tree. It is located in the Maria, the town before Baler. It takes about 60 people to encircle the diameter of the tree. It was so tall that having the urge to climb it was non-questionable. I do not know how to climb trees, but the branches were close to each other, and missing out was such a waste, so I decided to go at it anyway.
What's nice about the Balete Tree is that going up would require you to go inside it. So, even if you have a fear of heights, like my friend JB, you wouldn't have to worry of seeing how far the ground is from where you are.
After our trip to the Balete tree, we freshened up and prepared for our departure. Before going, we decided to grab a bite at 'Charlie Does', which is just a few minutes walk away from where we are staying.
We ordered their pesto, Banana PB Shake (Php 60), Bruschetta and Cappuccino (Php 70). Our favorite was the Banana PB Shake. It was rich and creamy. We just had to have it for two consecutive days.
Charlie Does also sells shirts. The ones you see in the picture above costs around Php 700. We would've loved to take them home, but we were running low on cash.
We really enjoyed our stay in Baler. My friend's sister, Mira, and I even talked about wanting to go back to Baler the moment we were about to leave. It was a long ride back home, but I really enjoyed it having the best people in the world beside me. Oh, and with The XX on my playlist. One last thing, if you're staying at Bayler View, try their tapa. It's really yummy.
