is it Unterleuten by chance? ;D when I read the first paragraph I was like wait a second! but yes SAME! I enjoyed that book so much even though it’s so long and nothing really happens and so many characters are unlikable but just wow??? anyway I really like reading Juli Zeh :)
I knew if you read the post you would guess it’s Unterleuten! :D
but yep, nothing much happens but I absolutely love it. how did she do this? write 635 pages of barely anything happening and it’s still amazing and super intriguing and captivating?!
the atmosphere kind of reminds me of Altes Land which was one of my fave books I read last year but much more intense and with much more developed characters. Altes Land feels soft and gentle and like a comforting blanket in comparison, but they’re both character-focused and all about village-life
it’s the first book of hers I’ve read but I’m going into town on Friday and you can bet I will leave the bookstore with a couple of her books
