❝We have said goodbye before, so it stands to reason…we’ll say hello again.❞
los angeles had always been the last place that david nolan had thought he’d end up. however, he couldn’t entirely complain. he had a good life, a decent life. he’d come here years ago to be with his brother and mother in what he’d hoped to be a temporary change and yet... years later, after his mother had passed away, his brother had gotten married and started a family in tulsa, here david remained. he couldn’t explain why, considering he disliked basically everything about the city from the traffic to the superficiality of the city and the vast majority of it’s populace. the only thing he did like was his job at the animal hospital. no, he wasn’t a veterinarian, but he worked at the front desk and the environment had been enough to inspire him to go to school for it. he’d finish that... then perhaps he’d finally get out of los angeles. he was stopping at a cafe as he usually did when he finished his classes for a coffee. it was late, but he still had studying to do before he could get a few hours of sleep before work. it was then that he saw her. he’d seen her before, just not when he’d been awake. his heart lurched with something he’d not felt the need to do in a long time... to speak to her. yet, she’d been the one to approach him first. “i’m... sorry, what?” had they... met before and he couldn’t remember? is that why he saw her constantly when he managed to get more than a few hours of sleep? “have we met before?”
