There was a certain charm to the laundromat. The squeaky linoleum flooring, the hum of the machines lining the walls, the smell of detergent--almost like stepping into a time machine, or more like a place where time simply stopped. There was a kind of peace that fell over Marley upon entering the building, even if it was with a full laundry bag in tow. She’d place her headphones over her ears, do a couple loads, read a couple chapters of her book...but as she set up station at one of the empty machines, and reached for the suspiciously light detergent bottle on top of her pile of clothes, she realized that may be difficult to achieve. Even before she shook the bottle, she knew it was empty, a sigh escaping her lips as she vaguely thought back to the last time she did laundry, and set the empty detergent bottle back into her laundry basket for a reminder to buy more. Fat load of help that was, Marley. 

Going over the options in her head, movement from the corner of her eye caught the blonde’s attention, the machine next to her having been occupied. Figuring it couldn’t hurt to ask, she leaned in closer, a carefully curated half-embarrassed smile on her lips as she asked, “don’t suppose you’d be willin’ trade some detergent for whatever your heart desires from that vendin’ machine over there?”

Hey there, everyone! I’m Cherry, and I currently have two beans in play- Sophia Prescott and Charlotte DuChamp! I’m 28-years-old, and my timezone is EST. But, I tend to be around during some ‘odd’ hours, as I work second shift so my schedule tends to be a little wonky. I’m definitely looking forward to writing with and getting to know everyone! -Sophia was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to Patrice Young-Prescott, a high powered state’s attorney and Roderick Prescott, a nationally well-known plastic surgeon.  -Growing up, Sophia was taught and expected to be as prim and proper as any southern belle could be. Her parents, as well as her extended family members, placed an incredible amount of pressure on her to do the best, to be the best, to excel, and to succeed.  -Although Sophia followed her family’s guidelines for the most part, doing any and everything she could to impress and meet their standards and expectations, she experienced moments throughout her life of wondering ‘what if’. What if she weren’t who she was? What if she could go somewhere and be just another face? What if she wanted something different for her life? -Graduating high school as Salutatorian, everyone in Sophia’s family expected her to pursue something in the medical field, though they all expected something within human medicine. But, having loved and been fascinated by animals all her life, Sophia declined several full-ride offers to four-year colleges, choosing instead to pursue a career as a Veterinary Technician. -After attending an accelerated, 18-month program, Sophia graduated and sat for her licensing exam, which she passed with flying colors. Immediately, she took a job at a Veterinary ER in her home town, where she worked for 9 years.  -Despite being an adult, having her own apartment, and a career, Sophia still remained under her family’s thumb. Every decision was scrutinized, every move judged, every day analyzed. After a while, Sophia began to feel like nothing more than a lab rat, watched day in and day out, never truly having the ability to explore herself or her own desires.  -Relationships have always been hard for Sophia, due to who she is and her familial expectations. Most of her partners have been people her family or parents have set her up with, people who met their ‘standards’, but never anyone Sophia herself was interested in, and they never amounted to more than casual dates and hookups. So, she hasn’t ever had the opportunity to really explore what being in a relationship is like. -Three months ago, an opening for an RVT came available at a small General Practice in Charming, California. Sophia came across the listing, and something drew her to the ad. After visiting their website and doing a little independent research on the area, Sophia took the leap and applied. After only one interview, she was offered the job. So, she packed up, took money from her trust for a sizable down payment for a house, and made her way to Charming.

Hello everybody! I’m Tabitha, and I’m so happy to be here and get to write with you all. This is Marley--I have to rework her full bio a little bit, but I’ll work on getting that posted and in the meantime, can tell y’all a bit about her below!

Marley was born and raised to a young single mother in Jerome, Arizona--a town known mostly for it’s haunted history, and in turn for being one of the state’s biggest tourist traps.

Helen Callahan was most definitely not ready to be a mother, her budding substance abuse problem establishing pretty early on the kind of relationship her and Marley would grow to have.

Having to be the caretaker of the two, Marley grew to resent not only her mom, but the whole idea of home in general, and decided from a young age that she would not let her town swallow her whole.

At eighteen years old, she took off and never looked back--not even at the high school boyfriend whom she was supposed to take with her. Having gotten cold feet at the last second, she set what would soon reveal itself to be a pattern with Marley.

She has a hard time standing still for too long. She saw what being stuck had done to her mother, and deep down, even after getting out of Arizona, she fears that inevitably, she’s heading for the same fate.

Traveling’s how she copes, never in a spot for more than six months. Her time in Florida had introduced her to the world of charter yachts, and right away she knew stewardessing was the career path for her--getting to travel to the most beautiful of places both on and off the clock.

She’d spent about ten years in the yachting industry, having just touched back down in the US to cool off after an affair with a captain gone wrong, when she received the phone call about her mother’s passing.

The plan had been to head to Arizona. It was only a ten hour car ride, less by plane, and yet...Marley had been unable to move. The thought of returning home more than ten years after leaving it behind petrified her. So, she never went.

But she hasn’t left California either. Has thought about it every day for the last six months, but just can’t.bring herself to go, because she knows exactly where she has to go once she does.

That’s just the bare bones run down on my girl, and I’m really excited to get to play out this version of her here with you all! Some basic plot ideas running through my brain to start are: a roommate/mates, fellow Hale’s Diner employees/patrons, flings/flirtationships, drinking buddies, perhaps people she could’ve met elsewhere in her travels! -Charlotte was born to two loving parents, Jane Tucker (an Art Teacher) and Paul DuChamp (owner of a construction company) in Charming, California. She has two brothers, both older. -When Charlotte was two-years-old, she became ill, having come down with meningitis. Due to the high fever, she was rendered deaf.  -Although her parents considered a Cochlear Implant surgery, they ultimately decided against it, wanting to leave that decision up to Charlotte once she was older.  -The entire family threw themselves into learning American Sign Language, becoming heavily involved in the Deaf community in California. -Throughout school, Charlotte excelled. Although she was mainstreamed during elementary school, once she started middle school her family enrolled her in the Deaf School in the next town over, so that she could be more fully immersed in the culture, and would be able to attend classes taught in ASL.  -Charlotte always knew she wanted to be a teacher, following in her mother’s footsteps. And, having always had a love for English, literature, and writing, it only made sense that she would teach those subjects.  -For college, Charlotte attended Gallaudet University, the nation’s only Deaf university, located in Washington, D.C., though after graduation she decided to move back to Charming. -Just after moving back to Charming, Charlotte received the devastating news that her father had passed away. Only a year later, her mother passed.  -The grief of losing her parents shook Charlotte to her core, and she became a bit reclusive, really throwing herself into her work and her students.  -Relationships aren’t something Charlotte has a ton of experience with, other than a few casual dates during college. Though, they aren’t something she is opposed to.

-Childhood Friends/Friends: Being a native of Charming, Charlotte would like connections that may have been existing with her or her family, as well as people to hang out and build connections with -Teacher Friends/CoWorkers: Being a teacher, Charlotte would like to get to know others she works with -Relationships: Charlotte is open to dating, hookups/FWB is uncertain.
