I believe Espio was selectively mute when he first started living with Vector. He was a scared preteen who had run away from home, so the anxiety really piled up on him. I think he communicated through writing (albeit in fragmented English since he was still learning) I imagine once he mastered the language and finally felt like Vector was his family, then he started actually speaking to him. Hearing a voice FINALLY coming from this frightened child really made Vector’s heart swell. That’s one of his boys 🤧

I do think Charmy developed abandonment issues after the events of the metal virus… i think zombots have remnants of consciousness so he was constantly thinking of his family. idk how long the time was between him getting infected and him finding Vector and Espio, but even just a couple of days can feel like an eternity for a kid. I’m sure there was a point where he thought they left him for dead, no matter how hard he wanted to think otherwise. Vector and Espio would NEVER leave him, EVER. But, things can get really scary for a little kid
