In these sad times of our economy, I can only imagine what could have happened if you were kept. However, I'm not going to dwell on the past; I will romanticize it. From the moment I heard of American Apparel, I was so confused and lost in my own little teen self that I completely forgot about it until I turned 16. High school is where most kids tend to pay attention to what their wearing. At that time, I was seeking freedom from labels and logos that have nothing to do with my personality. When I heard about your company on a haul video, I searched it up and was reintroduced to your company once again. This time I was in love. My first purchase was the white Organic Sustainable Edition T-Shirt. And then my first ever online order was the Basic Crewneck Sweater in zebra. I started to feel like my own self, as if this represents my own identity and individuality. I loved American Apparel so much that I wanted to intern at the DTLA Factory Headquarters. The youth culture you created was just raw and effortless. The stand on immigration rights was very touching. The support on LGBTQ rights was so thoughtful and comforting that it made me proud of my own sexuality. This fashion based t-shirt company reflected the political life of America and that's something to be celebrated. I didn't care that American Apparel was a little pricey because I knew that it had to justify the hard work of thousands of people coming from different countries who seek a better future for their themselves. From Viva Radio to the doggy fleece sweatshirts, I really wanted to devour the company with all my money and heart. I also dreamt of visiting the American Apparel retail location in Mexico. At this moment, we seek all the classics and styles you delivered to us in order to keep a little history in our closets. The closing of the company however will lead workers to a new chapter in their life whether it to be good or not. It's highly notable to be working in the fashion industry decades at time but I think maybe in order to protect your work, you must stop before its overdone. I hope to see your new company staying strong. It really was true American. Thank you Dov Charney and everyone who worked for the company <3
