DO NIYF SAMCHEL AND AGH RYBREY
spikes the eggnog? Neither. Eggnog is a luxury in Panem even after the war, and Rachel doesn’t like dairy for her singing; Sam doesn’t like it for the mean things it does to his abs.
hangs the stockings? Sam. It’s a family tradition at his house, and he’s still the tallest so he hangs them for everyone, and just adds Rachel into the mix after the Hunger Games are over.
leaves cookies and milk out to keep up with the santa tradition? In every verse I feel like Sam leaves carrots for the reindeer instead, although in Panem they’d still be hesitant about wasting food so I don’t know if they’d do this.
“accidentally” throws away the fruitcake: Neither because no wasting food, but they would definitely encourage Stevie to eat all of it as punishment for being a little shit.
goes overboard on the whipped cream? Neither omg dairy products are apparently Samchel’s mortal enemy.
is the inevitable Christmas grinch? Neither. They’re both so relieved to be alive and living in a post-war world that they both appreciate everything about the season and celebrating being alive.
wakes up first on Christmas? Sam; even back when Panem didn’t really celebrate and they didn’t have anything to give to each other Christmas morning, he still woke Stacey and Stevie up early and tried to do something special. Rachel wakes up as soon as she hears him rustling, though, since they both still have nightmares and neither sleeps that well.
rolls their eyes as the same cheesy carol plays in the stores for the millionth time? Neither. Christmas music is still catching on in Panem but they’re both musical people anyway :-p
starts playing Christmas music the day after Halloween? Neither, although Sam catches Rachel humming it when the weather starts to turn cooler.
decorates the Christmas tree? Both. Rachel wants everything to be just so, but she can’t do it without Sam to reach the tall parts of the tree.
spikes the eggnog? Aubrey. Jake told her how easy it was to get Ryder drunk and now they take bets before they each hang out with him to see who’ll get him to do the funniest things while under the influence.
hangs the stockings? Aubrey. Ryder may love Christmas but he gets forgetful when he’s overzealous, and Aubrey picks up the slack with little things like stockings.
leaves cookies and milk out to keep up with the santa tradition? Aubrey. She has to take charge of it so Ryder won’t eat everything as they make it.
“accidentally” throws away the fruitcake: Aubrey. She thinks it’s disgusting but for some reason Ryder likes it, so she has to get rid of it before she’s stuck kissing someone with fruitcake breath.
goes overboard on the whipped cream? Ryder. He’s pretty gross about food honestly, and Aubrey’s just relieved that there’s not any bacon in it when he makes them hot cocoa.
is the inevitable Christmas grinch? Neither. Aubrey has surprisingly pleasant memories of Christmases growing up, and it’s nice to be able to show off her more festive side with someone like Ryder as opposed to her grumpy housemates.
wakes up first on Christmas? Ryder; he hardly sleeps on Christmas Eve because he’s basically just an excited large man-child/human puppy person.
rolls their eyes as the same cheesy carol plays in the stores for the millionth time? Both. Aubrey thinks Muggle stuff is too cheesy to deal with, and Ryder pouts that they don’t play his favorites like ‘Grandma Got Run over By a Reindeer’ often enough.
starts playing Christmas music the day after Halloween? Ryder would be more likely to, but he mostly listens to the stuff with no words as background music when he studies and just waits to sing the other stuff in Frog Choir.
decorates the Christmas tree? Both. It’s a crazy mess of Aubrey’s classier ornaments and Ryder’s goofy ones by the time they’re done, but somehow they manage to make it look good.
