You Probably Haven't Heard This Music. You Should.
In 2008 my band at the time (Chasing Arrows) was lucky enough to be a nominee at the MTVU Woodie Awards. After being herded through the press tent at the Roseland Ballroom we settled into our seats along with other nominees and various industry folk. We found ourselves seated next to Jet Lag Gemini, a rock band that lived on Doghouse Records from 2006-2011.
Jet Lag Gemini gained a fan that night.
Since that time they have dismantled and former guitarist/backing vocalist Vlad Gheorghiu, now known as Vlad Holiday, is fronting a group called Born Cages. For whatever reason (read: the small group of gatekeepers that control what most people hear) Born Cages hasn't become a widely known name as of yet. I get the impression that's likely to change if they keep their current trajectory. The anthemic rock that Jet Lag Gemini hinted at is certainly finding its way into Born Cages. Vlad Holiday's solid vocal performance, supreme guitar licks, and resounding choral hooks have me eager to hear whatever it is they deliver next.
Born Cages - Don't Look Back
Here's The Sidelines EP, Born Cages' debut release (June 2013) in its entirety.
Here are their tour dates. Check them out if you have the chance.
