I would love to hear more about your opinion of Shallan. I don't hate her, so don't fight me, but I have serious problems with her, and I need to hear from someone who admires her.

Honestly I adore her, I’m not going to say that she is some perfect character and everyone needs to love her, that would be ridiculous. but man she is impressive, like just reading about her childhood made me respect her so so much. I mean shit dude, her family was falling apart, the things going on with her brothers was insane, and don’t even get me started on her father. and she pretty much was the one that held them all together and made things a little bit better, and she was like 15. Most people would have just broken down and given up, she is just amazing. and she’s like a freaking genius, all the scenes with her and Jasnah were so impressive. Just the way that she would work through things and how quickly she would come to understandings, like dang she’s smart. and like bro she had to figure out how her powers worked on her own, while trying to infiltrate the Ghostbloods(if she messed something up with her powers, she would have been killed). and like she didnt really know anyone there, she was pretty alone for a large part of it. and man so many people complain about her romance with Adolin and how unnecessary it is??? like the book literally talks about how helpful a connection between Shallan and the Kholin family would be. and honestly they are adorable together and complement each other very nicely. What cuties. (I’ve seen some people calling her weak for falling in love with him and I just?????)and I’ve seen tons of people also complaining about her being rude to Renarin at the end of WoR. and like yeah i get that that could be off putting, but please remember that at that time she was trying to figure out how to get the portal working and if she didn’t, everyone would have died. regardless of how she felt towards Renarin during that scene, she would not have been able to stop and talk to him and see what was wrong. Kind of not the time. like at all. and even if she doesn’t care that much for Renarin, hating her for that is just ridiculous. You can’t have everyone loving each other, people don’t work that way. Just she is so smart and brave and talented and I will stand up for her no matter what. do people have to love her no matter what? no. will I fight anyone who disrespects her and thinks she is useless? yes.
