Once in awhile, FFXIV will literally EAT one of your post.
There is no need to try to post it again or try another channel, it will not work.
You might want to cut your sentence into pieces and repost each part one after another to see what is causing the problem, to write another post, or simply to send it to your partner via another chat.
There is absolutely no rule when it comes to what is deleted.
At first I thought it was only about topics such as violence, war, money exchange and the like, but I saw one of my post about some flowers disappearing in the void as well, so.. I don’t know.. Maybe some odd occurrences which trigger FFXIV’s spam tool ?
Either way, as far as I know, SE never admitted there could be a bug even when proofs were given to them, so the best way to not suffer from it too much is to actually know about it and adapt to it.
The reason why I post this is because I discussed with some people not knowing about that bug and thinking that the person they were RPing with went AFK or was bored, while in fact their sentence was simply deleted by the game.
This bug can lead to some incomprehension or worst when you’re unaware of it, so I thought that sharing this information might help one or two people out there.
I encourage every FFXIV RPer to have a X minutes “rule”.
It’s simple, you probably know of your partners’ pace when it comes to RP, so if nothing comes after X minutes, you ask them if they wrote something.
The goal isn’t to startle your partner and force them to write within the timer (that’s why you should adapt the “rule” to your partner’s pace), but to make sure that SE wasn’t nasty and didn’t randomly eat any sentence, so make sure to explain to them about the bug so they won’t feel stressed if you ever need to ask.
It’s a rule we apply with Carina since day 1 and the only thing we found to not suffer too much from that bug, but if you have some other idea, feel free to share them ♥ !
If you are RPing with someone and don’t want to give them your Skype or Discord ID just to send back an eaten sentence, I recommend you to use > Pastebin < !
