Cassandra was angry. It had been some time since she’d really had a meltdown. She was always battling demons in her head and when a photo memory of her and Rapunzel popped up on her phone she freaked out. It had been a difficult day and it was just the icing on the cake. She was in her apartment, had began throwing things around, including her phone against the wall. She wanted to scream and cry, so she did. Her now cracked phone kept buzzing and she kept ignoring it, opting for a bottle instead. She had already tried going for a run but she was so emotional that every step she took black rocks appeared around her. So, she ran all the way home, not daring look behind her out of fear what might be there. She was safe in her apartment though. Belligerently drunk, but safe. Her phone kept buzzing and then she remembered she made plans with Raps and forgot. So, when she heard a knock on the door she opened it. Mascara was running down her face and she had to hold the door frame to keep herself up. “Just go away.” Maybe if Rapunzel disappeared forever she would feel better. No, she told herself, absolutely not. The opposite would happen. She truly did care for the girl but there were so many paradoxical feelings when it came to Rapunzel. Taking a shaky breath she wiped her eyes. “I know we had plans but you shouldn’t be here. I should have called, whatever. Sorry, I guess.” She didn’t dare look her friend in the eye. “Don’t worry about me though. I’m fine.” Cass clearly wasn’t ‘fine’ but she was a big girl. She could handle all the battles life threw her way. Maybe not in healthy ways, but she could deal. She always did, she had to.
