INTRODUCING HANS WESTERGAARD. A HUMAN FROM ECHO CREEK.
Hans’ entire life he was pampered, so it’s safe to say he grew up to be a bit of a spoiled brat. Well, not just a bit, but a lot. Despite this though he often got the short end of the stick. He had twelve older brothers he wish didn’t exist and they were always in the way of his goals. His goals were mostly things out of his own self interest, but hey! They were still goals!
From childhood Hans knew he was destined for greatness. His parents were powerful and brutal politicians in Echo Creek and stopped at nothing to fight for what they wanted, even if that wasn’t always a good thing. Hans was an observer though and he observed their every move, taking notes on what they did right and wrong so he could be even better.
He didn’t particularly care for his parents, and he really didn’t care for his brothers, but they were still his family. He didn’t hate them, they were just…there. Some say he’s incapable of love but Hans knows that’s not true. He loves power and he loves himself. And, besides, he loved his childhood dog too.
He’s always been a master manipulator. When his brothers were all gone and moving on in life he was still in high school. He told his parents if they didn’t give him what he wanted that they would be sorry. Blackmail would be simple. His parents were by no means decent people. Sure, they cared for their family and such but that didn’t mean they were good people. Hans wanted power and his parents were the key to that.
After high school it was college. He knew he needed an education if he ever were to get far. So, he studied hard while he worked as his parents’ campaign manager. College was easy enough. His parents paid for good tutors when he struggled and the rest was simply common sense to him.
There’s always been a lot of whispers about what happened after he graduated college and his parents died shortly, and tragically, after. They were murdered and Hans was devastated, obviously. Why wouldn’t he be? They never did find the killer and closed the case with the assumption it wasn’t a targeted murder, maybe a burglary gone wrong. Hans knows the truth though, and he has never told another living soul.
The Arendelles entered his life before all of that happened though. It was sad how their parents had passed so suddenly as well. Hans knew he could woo one of the daughters over and marry into more wealth and power, combining two families that had always opposed. Elsa was clearly the tougher of the choice, but she was the eldest and even though Hans was a little younger than her he still took a shot at it. She was a tough nut to crack though and when Hans knew he wouldn’t make any progress he ditched the idea of Elsa and moved onto her younger sister, Anna.
Anna was a walking ball of sunshine who was very naive and Hans knew she was the perfect target. They met ‘by chance’ at the candy shop Anna works at and Hans is certain it was love at first sight for the girl. He knows she will do anything he wants and he’s willing to go as far and long as it takes to keep things that way. He still had to deal with Elsa though. If his long term planned work she would still be an issue. He feels like she’s hiding something, but can’t figure out what.
In the midst of everything though he’s managed to secure his father’s old job as city manager, much to many peoples’ distaste. Despite that he was able to manipulate a fair amount of people to come around and see the ‘greater good’ that he has planned for Echo Creek. City manager was only step one of the updated goals he had for himself. He knew he was destined to be mayor one day. He was already ahead of the game in life but he knew these things took time and patience. Not everything would be handed to him anymore now that his parents were gone. Still, he had part of the inheritance, as did his older brothers.
As far as his brothers go, he doesn’t care much. Most of them are significantly older than him or he just doesn’t like. He makes an effort around holidays and such but he doesn’t go out of his way often to talk to any of them.
He really isn’t the biggest fan of chocolate.
Enjoys sex and alcohol as much as the next person. He’s still young and does go out but he knows he has to keep an image up so he doesn’t get sloppy drunk often. He will have enough to feel something, but he tries to keep the wild partying to a minimum unless with some good friends. Will also sleep around on some nights out, or hook up with people he’s met before. Obviously isn’t looking for a serious relationship of any kind if he’s trying to win over Anna.
He would love to get a pet at some point. It’s very lonely and quiet at his house. Plus, some of his best memories as a kid was when their dog would come sleep with him at night instead of anyone else at the house.
After his parents died he didn’t sell their house. It’s currently the one he lives in. It’s huge, as it once held all twelve of his brothers, his parents, and himself. It was a huge fight with his brothers after their parents died over what to do with the house. Hans said he had still been living there at the time of their parents’ death and it should go to him. It took a bit of arguing, but Hans won in the end. Some of his brothers are still bitter over it but most of them have come around to agree with him.
