Electric Bikes & Starry Nights

Emily tugged on her helmet, pushing her hair away from her eyes. She listened to the tour guide point out the route they’d be following and the best areas to stop and take pictures. She leaned against Stephen as they were given other safety information about the bikes. She tiptoed to peck his cheek before getting to mount her bike. “Ooof...” Emily giggled, as she was a bit wobbly. “I think I’ve got it now...” pursing her lips, she looked back up at him, still trying to keep her balance as their guide did a final check and headcount before they started off on the trail.

Well, it’s about damn time you replied to my texts. It’s good to see your face again, asshole. And I hope you do know that Janel is probably going to steal her niece away, so now you’re just stuck with me. Where are you two in town? I’ll buy you a drink. I promise, I’ll be nice.

Okay, I hope you know that I’m totally gonna give you a hard time because you’re late to the hug party, Amell. I can’t believe you’re here! And right on time, since I’m back from Vancouver. Man, it’s been a while. How’ve you been, buddy? Catch me up on everything.

The best part about being home again was getting to spend time with his kids. And being home with the kids meant spending time coordinating playdates with the other kids in town. He was still actively teaching improv classes at the community center, and Amore always liked to tag along with him and participate. He had invited Stephen and Mavi over for a playdate. The kids were excited and already running around the house, Thumper was in Lennon’s arms and he was following his sister around while Darren was in the kitchen. Green Acres was the perfect place for two active little monsters, with a menagerie of animals, he always told his friends. When he heard the door, he pat Lennon’s shoulder before making it to the door. “Hey! Come on in,” he grinned.

Emily and Stephen had headed out to the St. Patrick’s Day festivities with Mavi. She had picked up some temporary green hair dye for the event to add a little extra flair to their outfits. It didn’t take too long for the two girls to convince Stephen to get some face painting too. A matching rainbow and pot of gold? Check. Glitter? Check. She grinned brightly, holding onto her drink. After the parade, Mavi was off to sleep over at a friend’s house for the night, so Emily snuck a quick kiss to Stephen’s lips. “Want to dance?”

So I am really feeling this sunshine situation this week and I love it. I’ve packed like six bottles of sunblock. Are you up for some one on one water polo maybe or tanning because I’ve got a drink in my hand and I’m ready to go. By the way, your butt looks very cute in those shorts. Do I win?? Did I make you blush yet?!

Summer Sunset

Emily tucked a few loose strands of hair behind her ear. The beach was beautiful, absolutely gorgeous. And while her pedicure was probably now pretty sandy, she didn’t care. She laughed softly when the sand tickled her toes, and grabbed onto Stephen’s arm every time she felt like she would fall over. Her heels came off at some point as they were seated at a bar and she casually kicked her legs, while taking a break from the sandy dance floor. It was also early enough for the sun to still be up but have a warm glow, as the sunset was coming up soon. “Are you enjoying tonight?” she asked him, placing a gentle hand on his arm.

Emily pushed her hair behind her ear. There was so much to see and do, and she was excited. It was a fun way to get out there and spend time with her girlfriends, have a few drinks and maybe sing a bit of karaoke. She chuckled to herself at the idea of watching hearts spill out over a cheesy duet, but it was still sweet, no matter what. Just a way to enjoy the night.. She made her way over to the refreshments and smirked, spotting her friend there too. "Well, well, stranger. Hey handsome, fancy seeing you here tonight."
