Grasping hold of his jacket, Nathan threw it on in haste, not wanting Nova to wait too long for his arrival. Luckily for him, he lived close enough he could walk to the diner. It was part of downtown, the part he loved most about living in Boston. Born and raised in the vast city, he never felt as though he didn’t fit in. While civilians lived with mutants, it wasn’t unheard of to run into people with special abilities like himself. Meeting Nova and growing up together had been a highlight of his life, knowing his best friend also wielded abilities of her own. Crossing the main street, he jogged partially, glancing at his watch a moment. He didn’t want to make the brunette wait any longer than she’d requested, even if she had been joking. Rounding another block, the diner was in sight and he managed to check his watch once more. Nine minutes had passed before he swung open the diner door and stepped inside, aromas of freshly cooked food cascading around him, enticing him to eat. Finding her in their usual booth, he paced over before plopping down into it, extending a fist so she could bump it with her own. “Ten minutes, exactly.” The mutant checked his watch as the seconds hand hit the ten minute mark. “Told you I’d make it.”
