          i recognize her... ruby spots a new face in the crowd -- she hasn’t seen this person at any party yet, but she knows of her -- who doesn’t know ellie yang? she’s a phenomenal actress & of course, ruby being who she is, has to save her contact info in her phone before the night ends. ruby’s as straight-forward as it gets, but she thinks she should switch it up tonight, maybe move closer every three songs, making sure to keep up the eye contact but always break the line of sight first. her plan was to gauge this stranger’s personality from afar before going in to introduce herself. after about an hour she finally moves in for the kill, her brown eyes sparkle with an array of colors from the flashing lights above her as she smiles brightly; “ellie yang? hi, i’m ruby cho, haven’t seen you around here yet, these parties are so fun, don’t you think?”

ruby sighed in defeat when she saw the male sitting down at the table she was walking towards. god, her best friend said this would be just them eating brunch, not her husband & his best friend as well. the female sat down & after she greeted the two wedded, quickly shifted in her seat to fix her posture, one leg crossing over the other & her arms crossing; she’s purposely trying to looked closed off, she want’s nothing to do with this man. however, her voice feigns a positive attitude as she speaks up so not to disturb the happily married couple. “minhyun...” just the name alone makes her want to roll her eyes. “it’s nice to see you again; you seem to be --” her eyes follow his body then back up to his face, “the same.”

Sunlight doused the morning in pastel hues and the cold air felt strangely wet as it touched his skin. His attire was not suited for such temperatures, still cold enough to send shivers down one's spine. Sam was numb to the wind that pressed ice cold kisses against his skin and the breeze that carried the salty breath of the ocean closer and closer until he was engulfed by its scent. The world lay in front of him in strange shapes and Sam could not quite discern where the distortion of his skewed perception came from. He swallowed and there was a desert sleeping in his mouth, as his feet decelerated their step until he had come to a standstill, a gradual halt too catch some air. He'd slept and eaten too little, had trespassed his boundaries and now paid the price. Lowering himself on the pavement of the nearly vacant sidewalk, he closed his eyes and the dizziness slowly began to fade as he breathed out. Leaning his back against the wall of a building, Sam buried his head in the palms of his hands, as though it would appease the throbbing sensation that pulsed through his temples.
