Hey, can I get Pearl and Cleo cleaning/taking care of Legs's grave?

You can draw them full on sobbing if you want, or not; your choice.

(also, if you feel motivated to I wouldn't mind seeing the other characters who visit mourning him as well... but no pressure.)

Just so you know this ask has hit the jackpot of my mind and you are now receiving 14 drawings + yaps about all my headcanons surrounding legss grave Ummmmm <3343 so it’s gonna be under the cut cause good golly gee there’s a lotta post in this post

It took a long time for Cleo to make the grave. She left the body where it was, couldn’t even look at it. Pearl wasn’t much better. Everyone else was long gone when they carved the headstone. It was a slow process, spanning months. She could only work at it for a couple minutes at a time at most before hiding it again so she wouldn’t have to look at it.

But eventually she finished and together they went back to where Legs died and buried the body together. It had been sitting for months; it was starting to rot. They tried not to touch it. They didn’t bother with a coffin. Just straight in the ground and then they left it.

That’s probably why a year later when they finally mustered up the courage to come back they found a family of rabbits had made a home in his buried corpse. The gravestone was crumbling and dirty. It made them a little sick to look at. They decided he deserved better.

It was slow. Almost too slow. They recarved the headstone. Tidied up the area. Planted seeds. It was painful and slow, but he deserved a nice final rest.

They kept it up for years and it got easier. It was painful and hard but it was easier. It became natural for them to keep things growing. Healing is funny that way. First they’re fighting just to look at the bloody place and nothing will ever be okay again and then all of a sudden years have passed and it is second nature to be alive and at least somewhat alright despite everything.

Finally, or not finally, because even after they just kept going, it was not just a place where a good man died. Sure, there were bones buried there, but over years they’d been intertwined with rabbit holes and roots. Great trees and winding flowers. The birds made a nest in the tree that grew around his grave. A baby rabbit was born in his ribcage. One last terrible thing gave way to a million little beautiful things.

Ten years after they left, Drift and Shelby came back. They visited graves and Cleo and Pearl. Stayed for a week and it was awkward and strange and it hurt. They cried too much and too little. They left too soon and too late. They had tried to make Scott come too but he refused. And the next time and the next. They tried to come every couple years.

And for all their pushing, when Scott came back, he didn’t come with them. He just left one day, no note, no nothing. They came back and he was gone. He didn’t visit anyone alive. He went from grave to grave and apologized for hours, never said a word, though. He just sat there staring until the numb gave way to guilt and the guilt faded to something similar to a seed. He was not okay. Maybe one day he could be. Maybe okay was not end goal but something always growing.

No one expected Apo to come back. She didn’t either. When she left she promised everyone and herself she’d never go near Oakhurst again. Until she did. Thirty years later, she’d guess, she wasn’t keeping track anymore. They were restless, they needed to do something, go somewhere. It was hard to leave Cherri again. They did. Cried when they saw the grave. Saw what she could have become. Cried more when she saw the garden. She avoided everyone. She made a habit of coming back whenever she felt restless which was far too often. Avoided everyone til she came at the same time as Pearl and Cleo. They invited her back. Eventually she brought Cherri with her. Introduced her to everyone. Somehow it was nice.

More than no one expected Apo, no one expected Abolish to come back. No one thought he was particularly attached to anyone and after so long, they figured he was dead. It was half a century later when he did. Fifty years. Sure, he could have been alive that long. He shouldn’t have been. Not like that. Not when he still looked as old as he was when he left. He exchanged pleasantries, stayed for a day, and did the same the same day of the next year and the next and the next.

That’s just became when everyone came. Some for a month or even a few and some for a couple weeks or a few days or a handful of hours. But they came. Every year. It was slow and painful. But the garden grew, and so did they. Healed around the rotting corpses buried inside them and kept on living.

i know no one asked. but this is for you, if everyone remembers by the way but uhhh, I rarely (barely) get to write him but, he will forever be Romeo Montague to me. so whenever the impulse or the interest is considered, do feel free to pursue him. currently cooking up my verses so u all can have a glimpse ! i’ll list my plans as a sneaky peaky blurbs of what I got so far! dw I will properly post a detailed breakdown of all lol. so if there’s also interest , you can nudge me & we can also cook up things ! it’s also gonna be more for fun because I want to just write him everywhere & create worlds for him . pls know that these are just ideas that are swirling around my lil brain :’) and being creative , & as time goes also discovering Steve’s voice & my interest in expanding him + his embodiment , if it fits/u see it : super snazzy , if u have a hear me out , even better hehe . tbh almost like a interaction route guide: so lmk , nudge me , honestly anything . I’ll keep it under cut below so guys don’t get a long post :

- main verse : two main directions from college - adult 25years + ( all interactions unplanned & progress to grow ! ) —current choices of direction below,

- police officer verse : for rookie/911/a possible ‘life’ decision in which he takes the law enforcement route, due to his nurturing & protective nature , I feel like a possible career in law enforcement & protecting people is a potential even as he’s in his later 20s , he trains under hopper before hopper leaves hawkins & he takes a position to be the next to take care of hawkins as he decides to stay .

- traveller verse : early-mid 20s , yanking the plot of him ‘staying’ in hawkins & yanking + actually taking the advantage of that RV scene which also then expands with dustin , and discovering his life + what he wants by taking a huge break , also claiming that because of his family wealth , an agreement between himself & his parents really that they let him go and discover what he wants , and travelling is one of the routes I see for him too to also delegate the idea of him meeting new people .

AU VERSES ( the fun verses hehe ) .

- vampire verse : in development with my love @drakuletka <3 specifically who turns him . Will expand on his abilities

- pjo verse : currently developing & deep diving + research , will post an entire meta once I have a much concise and detailed analysis + description on it all . (im REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THIS ONE so im sharing it in the case any one would love to write in this world / verse . ) Son of Plutus (or Ploutos) , Greek god of wealth, riches, and abundance ( wink wink @suffrme ) enters the camp around the age of 15 , Considered one of the most equipped & strong allies of the groups .

- apocalypse verse : A classic , uhhhh …tbh any route in the world of apocalypse , end of the world , all that shenanigans , partner dependant for sure

- actor verse : ….this one is so out of the universe idea that I just had because I based it on his younger self/ the idea that he could be discovered + in modern world lol . but this one is up for just funsies plotting haha , this one is like the LEAST serious but what I can see for him in “what if steve was in the entertainment world”

- i also have private verses with my best friends + if preferred between each other plots uwu
