All Adam knew was that he needed coffee. He was much more of a tea kind of person, but a quad shot espresso was calling his name. He’d barely slept in days and if he wanted to stay awake and finish his tasks for the day he knew he would need caffeine. He was waiting in line, not really paying attention to the people in front of or behind him. When the person in front of him finished paying and walked off he hadn’t noticed because he was looking at his phone. It wasn’t until he heard an all too familiar voice behind him tell him it was his turn to pay that he felt horrified. Adam could feel the blood drain from his face and when he turned around and was face to face with Lottie he felt ill. He hadn’t seen her since before the curse and all of a sudden he felt overwhelmed. He stood there and stared at her for a bit too long before he simply walked out of line and towards the door. He could not do this. Not now. Not ever. Once he was outside he leaned against the brick wall and took a deep, shaky breath. His heart was pounding and his head was spinning. He should have expected her to follow him, but he didn’t. He was hoping he could just dip and avoid her all together, but when she approached him and he looked up at her he felt his breath catch in his throat. “Don’t corner me. Not here and not now.”
