INTRODUCING ADAM BEAUFORT. A WEREWOLF FROM ECHO CREEK.
Growing up Adam had pretty much everything a kid could ask for. A shiny new bike, every toy on the market, and pretty much every little odd thing that caught his eye. His mother spoiled him but his father had the mentality that everything should be earned and not handed out.
Adam never liked his father. He never bore any love for the man. His mother was different though. She was the most amazing person he’d ever known and whatever little bit of light is left inside of Adam he owes to her. When she died from illness he was heartbroken, as any kid would be. He felt like losing his mother meant he lost part of himself. His father was so cruel that he had no one to turn to. He was reprimanded for the smallest of things. If Adam so much as shed a tear he was scolded by his father. It was a toxic relationship and his father told Adam to grow up and be a man. Having only lost his mother as a child this was quite difficult.
Adam would never let his mother’s memory die though. He still has a picture of the two of them in his wallet. In his darkest moments he thinks of her. He wishes he could be a better man and make her proud, but his father shaped him into a mini-him and Adam knows that and he knows his mother would be disappointed.
He’s had a gut feeling that his parents marriage was arranged. His mother came from a humble background with not much to offer and Adam never understood what she saw in his father. She became pregnant while the two were still in high school and before Adam was born they were married. He could never confirm anything, but Adam is certain his grandparents forced the two into marriage to not have a child out of wedlock. It’s unfortunate because Adam knows his mother’s life could have been so much better without his father in the picture. She may not have had the riches that came with being with his father but he just knows it still would have been better.
After she died it was constant arguing with his father. The two were always going at it. Adolescence was rough because Adam only had one parent and it wasn’t the one he wanted. He acted out and never listened to him. One day in his early twenties Adam finally snapped and killed him. It was terrifying, but he turned to the only two people he could trust. Blaise and Claude. They were his two best friends and perfectly helped hide the murder. Adam’s pretty sure he didn’t even shed a tear at his funeral.
Adam had felt alone most of his life and now with his father gone he felt even more alone. It wasn’t like the two ever cared for one another’s presence but it was just having someone present that felt comforting in a strange sort of way. At least he had his friends. And now that he was technically in charge of the restaurant chain Adam felt as lost as ever. He turned to Claude a lot, knowing the other man probably knew more about running the business than Adam did and took pretty much ever advice Claude had.
After his father’s ‘untimely death’ Adam turned to drinking. He didn’t miss the man, but he did feel guilty. That was the difference between the two men. Adam had some good in him. Apparently not enough though. He was throwing a party at the estate one night, surrounded by some friends and the staff of the estate when an elderly woman came to the door. There was a huge storm. The lights were flickering, tree branches were dropping, and the wind and rain were unbelievable. She had asked for shelter and Adam turned her away. He had been pretty drunk by that point, but the more he thinks of it he isn’t sure he would have let her in sober either.
The woman was a powerful enchantress of sorts. She placed a curse on the estate and anyone in it. Adam felt himself changing the moment that door slammed in the woman’s face. He remembers screaming and blacking out. When he woke he wasn’t human anymore. At least he didn’t appear to be. He was a gruesome beast and wanted nothing but blood. The only thing he remembers before waking back up as a human was swiping a large paw at Blaise, causing in a nasty scar on the man’s chest.
It became very clear very quick that the crew was cursed. Every full moon Adam would turn into what apparently was a werewolf. He locked himself up at his house every night of the full moon and from the moment it was clear to him and his friends what was going on they vowed to do everything to break the curse. Adam hasn’t been very proactive in trying though. He doesn’t know how or where to look for answers. He tried one day at the library, reading old books on folklore and such, which is how he met Belle. She was...interesting. Adam befriended the woman in hopes she could just lead him down the right path of books to find something but she managed to make herself a permanent person in his life. He’s not complaining, he enjoys her company, but he doesn’t know if he can trust her.
After everything with his dad happened Adam appointed his friends roles in his company. He had a college degree that his dad forced him to get and Claude to help him get by with running everything, but it wasn’t enough. He needed all the help he could get.
He truly believes in his heart that the woman who cursed them is connected to his mother. He doesn’t know how, it’s just a deep gut feeling. Maybe it was his mother’s way of telling Adam she’s disappointed in the man he’s become. Or perhaps her way of punishing him. He’s unsure. He just knows this is some sort of bad karma.
He doesn’t like people that he doesn’t know but sure is good at putting up a kind façade. When he visits the restaurants he’s always kind to the patrons. Not so much the workers but, hey, that’s business for ya.
As much as he’s worried about the company going under he does not blame Blaise. He blames himself. It’s not his friend’s fault he can’t taste anything and make new recipes that wow the crowd.
Celine holds a very, very special spot in his heart. She reminds him so much of his mother that it almost hurts sometimes. He would never do anything to betray her and though she can be at the receiving end of his tantrums sometimes he has never meant her any harm.
He’s usually at home if he’s not working. If he’s not at any of those places he’s found at the cemetery, leaving his mother flowers and sitting there until the sun begins to set just talking to her. Other than that it’s bars. He likes to go to bars because the owners tend to know he’ll spend more money than he intends to. Usually he leaves alone. On occasion he’ll leave with a woman. Sometimes he gets cut off, but he normally goes to places where he knows the owners so it doesn’t happen very often.
Aries sun, Aries moon, Scorpio rising. Best of luck to anyone close to him.
