i feel like at this point, it’s more canonically plausible that mikoto’s did was misidentified as such in milgram because of the presentation of it. in hindsight, it feels more like a temporary state of psychosis if you are to believe mikoto’s story as told- and john is more like a metaphorical manifestation of the episode itself, thus in milgram, 09 generally becomes episodic, and the circumstances make this newfound temporary ego state more of a “set” temporary identity while not being an actual alter. but that’s only if you’re to interpret mikoto’s voice drama and music video at a face level- i wonder if did was truly just a red herring. either way, poorly executed but still interesting. what a day guys.

though i think it’s irrefutable that haruka has some kind of intellectual disorder- awhile ago, i seen the autism claim get thrown around and some said that he didn’t show signs of it. to be honest though, as someone who was high support needs as a child- autism can present in ways similar to an intellectual disorder depending on the individual. i think it’s be comorbid for him- he has been shown to have repeated meltdowns in his mvs- specifically weakness -and the intensity of them was severe, going into violent territory of trashing things. he also specifically covered his ears in weakness while he seemed to be having a meltdown, so that was really notable for me personally to see. while, technically not directly stated by name or diagnosis; it’s clear he has multiple disorders instead of just one.

on a further note; with yamanka’s psych degree, i don’t think that guaranteed good writing of mikoto and it makes sense why it’d be written like that considering the institution of psychology in japan and how it’s treated versus western countries. writer’s bias could be seen, i don’t think it was necessarily out of a conscious ill-will though.

it saddens me to see rampant misogyny in the milgram fandom disguised as progressivism. the treatment of all of the female characters is frustrating. they’re either catagorized as girl bosses or the worst people to ever exist- which is common practice for fandom culture, but it’s pretty concerning when a topic like abortion is being talked about- and the first response is “oh, so this is pro life propaganda?” which completely strips yuno of her traits in favor of dulling her down to be the “girlboss” stereotype instead of a groomed teenager in a conservative society. kotoko also gets similar treatment but in a different way, which strips her of her own agency to be treated as the empowering women archetype in media when her character is much more complex and nuanced than that. then when it comes to muu and amane… yeesh; totally and utterly self explanatory. there’s a lot to say about mahiru being categorized as an evil abuser instead of a victim of… a conservative misogynistic society that caused her views to become warped in nature. it sucks, after 5 years in this fanbase; you’d think things would change.

i’ve never understood the logic of how people prioritize and rank relationships. “at this age you should care more about your partner and your parent becomes less of a priority” which makes sense to me mostly but then i just start thinking “okay, well what if there’s a deadly situation and you have a gun to your head and you have to choose between your childhood best friend, your dad, your cat, and your partner to live who are you choosing” and then i have to think about that in depth because it’s really going to happen because someone explained a social norm trust me this really WILL happen also your morals completely depend on it and also kill yourself
