Chats with Dante: Mind Reading

Me: Dude, wouldnt it be cool if all humans were born with the ability to read minds

Dante: Thats a terrible idea

Me: why not? If everyone read minds then you would be able to fully understand peoples ideas and the reasoning behind it without language getting in the way. The reason that people disagree on so many things is because we dont aways truely understand what the other is REALLY trying to say

Dante: But thats just it, if we all agreed on everything and came to a universal understanding then we would loose two of elements that makes life so meaningful and beautiful.

Me: And what would that be?

Dante: Well the first is individuality. Its good that we can't always understand eachother. It forces us to find answers through firsthand life experiences and to develope our own morals

Me: Well what about the second?

Dante: Human connection. The conversations that take place while getting to know someone is something that should be savored, like a rich chocolate cake. If people could just pass around ideas.... well that would be as intamite as forwarding an email.
