Except for those of us who either choose solitude or are forced into it. Still trying to piece together a solid interpretation of this quote, since it's meaning from Into the Wild could be very different from how I see it. I find it hard to even commit to how I feel about it. In one instance, I see how to be truly happy in life you must share it with others, but also in another, living a solitary life for the past 10 - 12 years has brought happiness, but also a great deal of pain.
