My family always told us "Santa lived a long time ago" because we're Christians (but also rude. We put up a banner each year that said "The Easter Bunny is Dead but Jesus isn't!" Or some shit like that). And so one year my sister told all of our cousins that Santa is dead so we weren't invited to family functions for about 5 years.
… Okay, but the Easter Bunny thing is so mean?! Wow. Also, I’m so thorn between feeling bad for your cousins and stanning your sister, five years of exile from family functions? I would die, my family functions are the only times of the year when I get to see my grandma get shitface drunk and claim I’m the only one she loves in our whole family.
Story: My mom’s Christian too, but last time there was a religion talk in my house was when the new Pope was elected and my atheist dad shouted “Look, girls! They’re crowning the new Chief of Liars and bestowing the power of The Lie of Two-Thousand Years upon him! Behold, the new era!” and my mom just looked upward and muttered “This would be a nice time to take me, Lord.”
