White vinegar and lemons make an awesome all-purpose home cleaner that is effective and safe.
How to:
Get a big container. I like to use beverage dispensers, the kind with the little spigots. It makes loading a spray bottle easy.
Fill that bastard with halved or quartered lemons. Pour white vinegar (preferably cleaning vinegar, which is a higher acidity and can be found in most grocer’s laundry or cleaning aisles) over the lemons. Seal and store in a pantry/cubboard/under the sink.
Let sit for two weeks. Put some in a spray bottle (also available at most grocers) and use for counters, floors, bathrooms, etc.
Add a cup to a soak cycle for smelly laundry (towels, dog beds, gym clothes) and then wash normally.
It’s carpet safe and does a killer job on the smell of urine.
Spray a thin mist over mattresses and pillows between sheet changes and allow to dry. Do the same for your couch every couple of weeks.
