Thinking about Sasha Bordeaux and how her time as Bruce's bodyguard and the decision she made to "take the bullet for him" so perfectly sets up her character in checkmate as first the black king's knight where she completely disregards her personal safety and morals to fulfill her role and then as the Black Queen still to an extent viewing herself as just a tool even when she's supposed to be the one being protected now. Anyway. Yeah. I'm thinking about Sasha Bordeaux.
Anyway, I admit that I am probably one of the few people interested in preserving and integrating her time in Spyral alongside her post-crisis characterization BUT something that I personally think would be cool if DC let me do whatever I want (other than having a Huntress solo written by Greg Rucka that goes on for at least 35 issues) would be to reboot Checkmate and set Helena Bertinelli and Sasha Bordeaux across from each other either as White and Black Queen, Queen and King (because I do think it's a little silly to have explicitly gendered leadership roles and Sasha should get to be King if she wants) or Queen and Knight. Other players/ideas include:
Various other characters from the shady government agency side of the DCU like, idk, King Faraday, or Nemesis, or previous checkmate characters like (checks logc) David Said or Harry Stein.
On the cape side of things, pulling in Roy through his past connections to checkmate and maybe Mr. Terrific again
Potentially having Helena as Oracle's woman on the inside keeping an eye on the whole thing
Tiger would hate James Gunn’s new Checkmate. The humour would have killed him quicker than any weird alien thing in Dick’s dreams would.

I love love love checkmate especially this issue don't get me wrong but. Holy inconsistent art style Batman. These are. One page apart. Not even. They're right next to each other. They are consecutive, one might even say. But boy you would not know it because Sasha looks so bad different on the right compared to the left. Anyway I love them so much. I need them to stay together forever. Unfortunately I fear I know what's coming.
