The type of shit nightwing is pulling on his days off
Bruce, coming back from Knightfight (if he isn’t dead): So J’onn, how is my son? Martian Manhunter: Well- how do I say this? Martian Manhunter: he’s in the 5th dimension Bruce: wtf happened while I was gone-
As much as I love seeing a Nightwing reference in Big Bang Theory, the one Hellblazer reference I can remember is so much funnier
If I had Terra’s abilities, I would take the Magneto approach and infuse my clothes with the thing I can control. If she can control gemstones, I would wear a bejeweled outfit. Though otherwise I would just wear boots with a lot of dirt on them
watching Big Bang Theory, as one does, and in one of the comic store scenes, I SAW AN ISSUE OF OUTSIDERS! WITH THE DC SYMBOL AND EVERYTHING!
IS THAT A FLYING GRAYSONS POSTER?!
IT’S A FUCKING NIGHTWING COMIC!
imagine being dick grayson and you get fired from your job and then your girlfriend breaks up with you and then the place your parents died burns to the ground and then your apartment explodes and then ur twin dies and then you have a situationship with roy harper and then ur city explodes and then your dead brother comes back to life and starts killing people and to make everything worse his new helmet looks like tylenol
Batman: "Now hold on a damn second. You cannot mean..."
Nightwing: "I didn't do so badly, ok. I even took the shooter to the police."
Bruce: "That' worse! You're injured! Just because... All right all right. Explain to me exactly how this happened."
Dick: "I had to throw a line from the stick while I pushed myself from the wall with the other hand, but then my phone rang..."
Bruce: "Why the hell are you answering your phone in the middle of a fight?!"
Dick: "Because it was Tim!"
Tim: "Right."
Bruce: "God, give me patience."
Dick: "If it had been anyone else I would have gone 'nah...' but it was Tim."
~~~ [#My little piece on the "Dick Grayson would never ever in this or any other universe not answer a phone call from his beloved brother Timothy Drake" subject.]
boring take from real 21st century idiots: bdsm is bad because it's basically torture
interesting take from a fictional 14th century monk: torture is bad because it's basically sex
hey remember when green arrow beat deathstroke by dropping him in a glue pit. what the hell. looney tunes shit. and after he hired deathstroke to kill him? ga 2001 got wild man.
I think NTT has a very big theme about consent and bodily autonomy as a whole. Because yeah there's the part with Slade and Terra, but beyond that every character deals with it somewhat.
There's Raven's conception and some elements of her relationship with Trigon.
Wally's torn feelings between love and hate for Raven as a result of the love spell she put on him and his fear of doing something with her that he wouldn't have prior to it.
Cyborg's modifications to his body when he explicitly didn't want them and would have rather died;
Similarly, Gar's genetic change dictating the rest of his life, plus all the flirting (which he uses as a way to distract himself, but it's still really wrong.);
Kory's status as a slave, and Mirage disguising as her to pose naked in a magazine;
Mirage tricking Dick to sleep with her when he clearly wouldn't have otherwise;
Donna marrying a much older man (which isn't necessarily bad but it does have to do with her agency);
And well, Slade and Terra
I love the fact that Starfire is taller than Nightwing
it’s almost as if Tolkien knew what he was talking about
It’s almost as if Tolkien personally witnessed one of the bloodiest wars in human history and then used that to fuel his writing.
Sometimes when one hears phrases like "people are good inside" it feels naive.
Then you read about Tolkien saying "For myself, I find I become less cynical rather than more--remembering my own sins and follies; and realize that men's hearts are not often as bad as their acts, and very seldom as bad as their words."
This man fought through WWI, surviving the trenches, gas, shelling, machine guns, the works. he lost almost all his friends. He saw WWII, the atrocities committed, the camps, the atomic bomb...
And still he said that. The man saw the absolute worst of humanity and found he was becoming less cynical as time went on. And that is an encouraging thought.
Praying to God that the new Red Hood comic, which comes out in September, will be good.
We don’t know much about it so far, but what we do know seems promising:
Jason is out of Gotham, perhaps permanently
The leather jacket, white streak, and guns return!
It seems to be an actual detective story, solving a murder. All Jason’s-Not-An-Idiot Truthers rejoice!
Helena is in it!
Update: it’s confirmed he’s killing again!
Obviously, we don’t know any particulars yet. Hopefully the writer won’t hate him. I’m also hoping they don’t try to push a Jason/Helena romance (which the released art does suggest). I also wish we’d see the return of the All-Blades, but who knows? Depending on the success of this series, maybe there’s potential?
Things which aged well
it aged like cheese
Jason: hey wanna watch a marvel movie
Dick: I'm more of a Disney guy
Jason:
Jason: big hero six
Dick: big hero six
Batman: The Court of Owls Saga Review
New 52 Introduces us to an all-new Batman in a freshly rebooted universe. But what's new isn't always shiny and cool. Let's talk about the first arc of New 52's Batman run per the Compact Comics editions which contains the first 11 issues.
from what I heard, the court of owls stuff was originally going to be used by Scott Snyder when Dick was Batman, during what turned out to be the end of his time as Batman.
But then Bruce got brought back, so Scott was forced to make it centre around the other Batman.
I had no idea that this was originally going to be Dick's story and now I'm so mad 😭 I can tell this definitely would have felt much better as his story too
Me, looking at Titans, as well as Deathstroke Knights and Dragons: where is Grant? Me, after Joey has been introduced: where is Grant? Me, after Rose has been introduced: where is Grant? Me, after both seem to make Joey Adeline and Slade’s only child: Where is Grant?! Me, after finding all the audience can find out about that version of Slade: WHERE IS GRANT?!
