A Study in Dianthus (and Penstemon and Epimedium)

A friend’s recent Facebook post of a variety of dianthus in her great-aunt’s garden prompts me to create a sort of eclectic catalog of the dianthus in my yard.

Dianthus is a genus (in the carnation family) with many species (at least 330 worldwide), which, while bearing some likeness to each other, also differ quite a bit, similarly to the way phloxes do, in size, habit, colour, leaves.  Sweet…

I took Skip (the action dog) for a walk yesterday and took the camera. Skip is a very good girl, so she’s happy for me to take a photo now and then, so I took these.

On the road out of the village, there was a terrible traffic jam! It was the worst I’d seen in the village.

It was OK, I managed to make it around the road block. They were very nice horses and moved, when asked nicely.

Moving flowers

There is beauty everywhere around Somerset, it’s outside in the garden. Oh and sorry if I got some of the names of the flowers wrong, I’m not green fingered.
