The new foliage of Epimedium × versicolor 'Sulphureum' (barrenwort) is tinged brownish-red when young. This plant makes excellent ground-cover being undemanding about location and it will tolerate dry shady conditions once established. There are yellow flowers which can be hidden by the semi-evergreen leaves.
