Rigel Bellatrix Betelgeuze!¡
Rigel: Have you ever gone on a rollercoaster?
Yeees
but I absolutely hate the ones that go upside down
Bellatrix: Have you ever been forced to lie/keep a secret?
Like all the time
Betelgeuse: What’s something you can never forget about?
All my travelling experiences
they were fantastic, usually
I can't even remember all the times I cried, panicked, stressed, depended on others too much, forsook myself foolishly, wondered who I was, wasted time and energy on useless things, and felt small and powerless this year. But I grew. I got to know myself better. I healed. I realized some things about love and sacrifice and self-worth. I worked hard. No one will ever realize how difficult the past year was academically, sure, but especially emotionally. It was insane. But I couldn't be happier. I'm finally starting to feel like myself again.
Update: 5 for Friday
Arroyo is starting to reach its final, final stages of production for the sixth issue!!! So I'm concluding ad swaps, chasing down writers, working on snazzy postcards with the new cover, finalizing my Pushcart Prize submissions (each magazine gets to recommend its favorite six pieces published that year)... and about to begin THE LINEUP!
The Lineup is super cool, so it gets capitals + its own bullet point. For the rest of tonight + most of tomorrow, I'll be deciding the exact order for the pages/pieces of Issue Six. I'll probably post a picture when I'm done (and add some facts), but the really obsessive part of me ADORES deciding how to best pair stories and poems and translations and art. Love it! I have ~140 pages that I need to arrange by tomorrow night. A cha, cha, cha, cha.
Just received my 11th rejection in two weeks. GG No Re. Got work sitting at a bunch of places, though. Fingers crossed for a handful in particular.
Right now I'm circulating a fable where everyone's actions and thoughts are accompanied by sounds; a choose-your-own adventure where you meet The East Bay Butcher a la "A Good Man Is Hard To Find"; a handful of surreal poems, and a psuedo-Salinger tribute about climbing transmission towers to repair them (and Zen!). Plus my Double Sestina is still being reviewed by my secret #1 favorie magazine (that has a 0.05% acceptance rate) Can't wait to get that rejection letter ;)
HELLO THERE to all my recent new followers and friends! I love how the more I'm here, digging around Tumblr, the more it sucks me in. Too many lovely people :D
And of course, Happy Friday night to you all--SO GLAD TO BE DONE WITH WORK (the kind that pays me, I mean).
