Colorado Beer Week Day 6 – Rouge Ales and Cheeky Monk
Day 5 of Colorado Beer Week, April 13th, will take place at Cheeky Monk (534 E. Colfax) with Rogue Ales (Oregon). Rogue Ales, known for making some of the best beers in the world, will bring four of their finest beers. Paired with oysters (thousands will be shipped overnight) caught just outside of the Rogue’s Brewery in Oregon. Rogue Ales will showcase their Double Dead Guy, Chatoe OREgasmic, Chipotle Ale, and Hazelnut Brown.
For $23.99 you’ll get the first dozen oysters on the house and a pint of one of the great Rogue Ale beers. After that order as many oysters as you can handle and mix and match your pairings. You can purchase your ticket here. What better way to celebrate Colorado Beer Week then at one Cheeky Monk with Rogue Ales and oysters?
Cheeky Monk is known as the Belgian beer beer in Colorado and it’s no wonder they were chosen as one of the event holders for this years Colorado Beer Week. Featuring 15 taps for draught beer, which are ever rotating (great when they have Gulden Draak in!), and a lot of bottles to choose from, it’s no wonder they are so acclaimed. They have some excellent food as well! Try Chimay Cinq Cents (Tripel) with some of their oysters or a kwak with their banana fosters cheesecake (my favorite!) No matter what you choose to drink there you’ll leave with a smile that runs ear to ear.
Rogue Ales located in Ashland, Oregon has been making great craft beer since 1988. They expanded to multiple brewpubs in California, Washington, and Oregon; they ship nationally and internationally as well. Their beer is described as “invariably fun and full flavored”. Having won more medals then I can count at the World Beer Championships (WBC), this brewery knows what they are doing. Here’s some information on the four beers they will bring to Colorado Beer Week.
1. Double Dead Guy – 2008 Silver Medal (WBC)/ Strong Ale: Deep amber copper color. Buttery peanut brittle, orange blossom tea aromas follow through to a rich chewy and fruity full body with nice notes of caramel drizzled dried apricot and roasted grains and spice. Finishes with a long, tangy grilled grapefruit and chocolate fade.
2. Chipotle Ale – 2005 1st place West Coast Brew Fest Competition / Golden Ale: Roasted chipotle peppers produce an eye opening chile flavor in this deep golden ale with a malty, smoky aroma and smooth, crisp flavor.
3. Hazelnut Brown Nectar – 2003 – 2008 Gold Medal WBC / Brown Ale: A nutty twist to a traditional European Brown Ale. Dark brown in color with a hazelnut aroma, a rich nutty flavor and a smooth malty finish.
4. Chatoe OREgasmic- Pale Ale brewed with 100% Oregon ingredients: Orange-amber in color, malty aroma, spicy fruity hop flavor with solid malt background and lingering finish.
April 13th celebrate Colorado Beer Week in style at Cheeky Monk with Rogue Ales. Four world class beers paired with Oregon oysters plus every beer Cheeky Monk has on available. This could very well be one of the best events during Colorado Beer Week and you better not miss it!
