Harry isn't very sociable, and he takes his craft very seriously, which is why he is the star pupil of Simon Cowell Culinary. He does everything perfectly and his technique is flawless.

Niall is charming as hell. He has a special relationship with the chef mentors, and has a very upbeat and light personality all in all. But... his technique could use some work. His knifework is subpar, and he lacks focus and finesse. But his flavors are elevated to a level which Harry, as much as he tries, isn't even close to matching. And that irritates Harry.

Both the boys have what the other lacks, and when it comes time for the boys to work on something together, things get messy. But with a bit of time, both boys realise that they need each other to be better at their craft.

And maybe along the way they realise that they need each other in different ways as well.
