Ask me about my weekend in Wilmington!!! Soccer, soccer and more soccer + cousins, cousins, and more cousins! But first we will start with the bonus / boondoggle: we kicked off soccer x3 weekend with a fuel up at the acclaimed Pinpoint Restaurant and met super nice owner/ chef Dean Neff. I once heard with travel soccer the food can be quite atrocious (read: drive through meals in between games!) So now anytime we travel I always finagle a way to work in a great quality meal or two… my opportunity was that Friday night as we were pulling into town. Our dinner was beyond excellent, crab fritters and precious spring veggies with a delicate cornmeal crunch and green goddess dressing! (My son ate -and enjoyed- a fried mushroom, a vegetable he vehemently denies!) We split the fresh flounder wrapped in kale and we both noted it’s smokiness- so good. Dessert was doubly delicious with a GF brownie Sundae–too bad Dad wasn’t here to enjoy dessert sans gluten! (little did we know Dad and daughter were enjoying their own ice cream sundae bar at their Y Guides weekend at Camp Seafarer!) My son dubbed Pinpoint “Seafood Piedmont.” And now I know who my date is for the next Seasons of the Sea Dinner at Piedmont in Durham! I can’t wait to take the whole fam back to Pinpoint next time we are on our way to Ocean Isle this summer! Newsflash, if you are at the coast/ near Wilmington this summer you have got to try Pinpoint, situated beautifully in historic Wilmington, a block from the river and most conveniently across from a parking garage! Also upcoming in June on 6/29 when Durham’s Piedmont Chef John May will join Pinpoint for a special seafood dinner with Chef Dean Neff. www.pinpointrestaurant.com 114 Market Street in Wilmington www.piedmontrestaurant.com 401 Foster Street in Durham
