Chelsea Jones - Engine Driver (The Decemberists cover)
last night I was drunk and frustrated and I wrote a drunk and frustrated poem involving a spaghetti metaphor here ya go:
Oh wait should I down this
Words that come to meaning but no recompense
Letters that twist lie meatballs
around spaghetti
That have no meaning
Keep twirlin’ me back in
have no meaning
Keep it around here---
no purpose.
If I could’ve kept you inside a grocery bag I would’ve
Kept you wrapped inside plastic so no mold’l get in
keep you safe in a cellar
warm til the date gets thin
And that’s when you’re still on but mold is a possibility
That I see colors in
Your skin but when I
Peel away its gone
But its not really
microscopic
Comes back when I don’t call it.
Who fucking cares what I want long as everyone is happy?
Swing-Motion
There’s a pedantry when I write, a back-and-forth motion, a swing. I could sit here for hours and hours and hours and hope that your existence turned into nothing because I turned into words. Silences become subtle messages. I ate with my eyes open and I saw your eyes closed when we kissed.
did I taste like bile to you
did I taste like bile to you then
Something in footsteps makes me wonder if someone’s at the door and I’m usually wrong.
You say you’re getting closer but you’re moving farther every day. You say you don’t get me but that’s because my focus is elsewhere. I am self-protected and self-consumed. I am words. I am words wrapped in wax paper metaphors and bloody Kleenex tissues. I am Art in multiple pieces scattered together not assembled waiting as they stack up. I am a musical dream that isn’t happening. I am a poet who hasn’t said anything.
And if you’re waiting for something to happen know it isn’t me.

Chelsea Jones - Falling Words
I'm just writing songs all over the place aren't you guys lucky.
This was a poem now it's a song.
you can't see the moon for the trees tonight, but the stars they do shine brightly
magnifying glass ceiling spiders
Today it is not raining but it might as well be
I thought I saw you in the cracks of shadows you might as well been, if seeing is believing
I might as well be
If I put a magnifying glass to the sun we might as well have been being
The spider on my ceiling, it doesn’t have any friends you were the last one to touch it but me it might as well have been

I don't accept hearts. Rather, I eat them, Laying them out nicely on saran wrap, napkins, newspaper Wrapped up in newsprint.
All in a row like little tin soldiers - I crack them with my teeth I scoop out the insides with little silver spoons, pick out little vessels & put them in my pockets, Save them for later.
The good hearts, I don't touch them Leaving them in little birdcages, watch them as they flutter The birds will come & pick them over later.

we will all fall with our noses pressed to the paper napkins, damp with our tears & leftovers the one you love will be the one you had asked for and if you were wrong, well, you got what you asked for
and if you are wise you will know when I'm speaking and hear every voice as if each voice had reason and someday a flower will fall from its petal and when you reach out they will answer the doorbell
the answers will hide but you'll know all the riddles the sphinxes and serpents, the rabbits, the robins you will suddenly realize that nothing is hidden and everything you wondered is somewhere well-written
the executioner will lift his sword from the gravestone the judge will realize his wife's expecting him home for dinner and everyone you once loved will all stand before you broken and wasted your own 2 hands will be maps for the taking and everyone will hold on because nothing is lasting and nothing is sacred and nothing is forever but as long as we're all here let's all stand together
