I was at a friends going away party that Tiffany had set up for her. We all had just gotten done dancing when my ex-boyfriend decided to show up.
Evan: “Hi, Chels. I, I um, can I talk to you for a minute?” I could tell he was nervous. He had every right to be. Here he was. At a party with all of what used to be our friends. He pointed to the porch to get away from the group I was with. This man broke my heart and left me all alone to pick up the pieces. I’m pretty sure I missed pieces along the way because I’m still not over it. It’s been two years against my better judgement I mutter, “Sure.” This would not end well.
Evan: “Wow. You look amazing, Chels. How are you-”, I scoff and cut him off mid-sentence.
“Cut to the chase, Evan. What do you want?”
He rolls his eyes at me. Evan: “You’re not still angry with me over what happened are you? Jesus, Chels. That happened two years ago! People change. I’ve changed.”
“You’ve changed”, I say questioning him. “You’ve changed?” I say with a raised tone. “Zebra’s don’t change their stripes, Evan. You broke my HEART! I’m not about to forgive you for what you did.“
Evan: “I know I fucked up! I live with what happened. Every. Single. Day. I - I miss you, Chels. Can’t you see that I’m sorry?”
“You don’t just get to walk up to me apologizing for what you’ve done and expect me to forgive you. I’m not ready and I don’t think I ever will be. Any trust I ever had in you was taken when you decided to fuck my sister! Forgive me, but your apology means absolute shit to me right now.” I turn to walk away. He grabs my arm in an attempt to keep me from leaving.
Evan: “Don’t go. No, Chels, let me finish!” He moves around and jumps between me and my escape. Evan: “Please! Just hear me out.” “Get the FUCK out of my way!”, I scream. It was then when I sensed someone behind me. “Tiffany, thank God.” I whisper. She’s here to save me from myself like she has done so many times before. I look to see a hand firmly placed on Evan’s shoulders and realize it’s not Tiffany’s. It’s a man. That’s a mans hand.
He whispers into my ear Kendrick: “Are you ok?”
