god sometimes i wish i was a polymer, life would be so much easier if i was a polymer.
i would just have to carry your groceries and be so helpful to you, or i could play music for you on a second-hand record player, i could brush your teeth for you, i could be so useful as a polymer.
trust me i wouldn’t be like one of those nasty polymers. i wouldn’t be part of the great pacific garbage patch or disintegrate into microplastics in your oceans and in your food. not me sir no i’m not like the other polymers
Recently, tension has been rising between the colonies of Ant Mountain and Spartant, the two largest colonies in the entirety of the region. We are on the verge of war, and are uncertain how to stop it. Needless to say, one wrong move, and the precarious treaties we’ve used to hold our peace among each other will likely break.
A recap of what has happened as to lead to this tension will now be detailed.
[OCT 4 - 26, XXXX]
As with most conflicts, it started with money, resources, and borders. Recently Ant Mountain has been facing largscale food and resource shortage for a variety of reasons, which is why more LIFTing than normal has been encouraged. Recently though, it has been found out that there is a primary, and very detrimental, reason for the shortages. For the past several months, Spartant has slowly been smuggling resources and food out of the Ant Mountain storage reserves in order to supply its own colony.
The perpetrator that was caught has disclosed very little information to authorities, and the Spartant Queen and Court have neglected to provide a response on the matter.
Furthermore, the loss in resources has led to a mass negative impact on the Ant Mountain economy, leading to instability both in the Mountain, and in the many colonies it helps to support, including the Mountain Bee Hive, the Safe Zone, and the many small settlements and pseudocolonies within the Greater Mountain region.
These situations have led many within the Greater Mountain Area to express a rising animosity towards the Spartant Colony, some bugs even leading protests in response to a lack of Council action on the matter.
On top of all this, border disputes erupted when two foraging teams from each colony found the other searching for resources nearby, claiming the other was encroaching on one colony or another’s territory. The conflict went from petty insults to near violence in a matter of four hours away from the home colonies, only coming to a narrow stop when a member of the Inter Colonial Emergency Services found the groups and intervened.
[NOV 13 - 29, XXXX]
Roughly two weeks after the border dispute began, another dispute erupted when two large family crested clans fell into tensions with each other, Clan Pebillium of Ant Mountain, and Clan Ochre-Dighaus of Spartant.
Due to the two houses’ value, power, and influence within their own respective nations, bugs quickly began to take sides.
The entire dispute started when it was found that one of the Ochre-Dighaus members was one of the smugglers in the food crisis, resulting in the Ochre-Dighaus clan to point out that a member of the Pebillium family was the first to make threats in the border dispute.
Each house began to claim the other was the root cause of the rising tensions, and with the dispute between the elite families making frontline news, unrelated bugs from both colonies began to form their own opinions on the matter. It was only when anonymous notes containing threats, however, that bugs began to really start pointing fingers.
In a different manner, another third party has been making a name for themselves. A party known as the Antarchist State has been spreading propaganda and causing destruction in both colonies. They have taken a very radical approach to the situation, calling for the complete destruction of both colonies governments.
When Ant Mountain Queen, Feraster R. Antcliffe was found to have ties to long since disbanded antarchy groups, they were asked about be situation, and responded by saying they “Do not support the actions of the Antarchist State. If the abolishment of governments is to happen, it must be peaceful and stable as to keep as many bugs as possible secure.” They provided no further comments.
On a different note, with the current instability of the Ant Mountain economy, and the subsequent waves it has created across a variety of nations, support for the socialist pseudocolony, the Arthropod Workers’ Commune, as well as the recently “split” megacorporation, the Assembly of Syndicated Corporations, have both risen. The supporters of each group, however, have also reached increasingly hostile tensions, leading to more anxiety across all the various bordering nations.
[DEC 7 - 21, XXXX]
Several assassination attempts on Ant Mountain nobles have been made, including council members Vixen Th’Crow and Orchid Pesti, former Queen Boopy X2, and currently ruling Queen Feraster Antcliffe, with the reigning Queen nearly passing from an attempt. Despite attempts to catch the assailant, the assassin, now known as the Golden Dagger, or, according to official reports, a veteran of the BSC2 War and self proclaimed Antarchist, Camilo Malousha, has escaped authorities and is still at large. The ongoing case has been given the unofficial title of the Camilo Incident.
Rumors about the assassin quickly spread through the Mountain, and despite officials assuring that the assassin was a single individual, many bugs believed the Golden Dagger to be a Spartant agent due to the previous Spartant smugglers. Though Queen Antcliffe and her council have attempted to subside these rumors, they have persisted among many bugs, reaching Spartant and causing further conflict. Spartant citizens and government officials alike were upset and outraged at being blamed for the assassination attempts. Because of this, small fights broke out in several territory outskirts, leading to a number of arrests.
Days after the Camilo Incident, one of the largest events in recorded history took place in Ant Mountain. Queen Antcliffe, accompanied by their Council, a number of other officials from allied colonies, though there were noticeably no Spartant officials present, and an elusive group known as the High Mages, released magic to all bugs. Magic had supposedly been present to the world for centuries, though much of it had been locked away, few individuals ever gaining access to it. With the decision to unlock it, magic had been set free on the world, allowing any common bug to have the ability to learn magic if they so choose.
The decision to release magic sparked a large amount of controversy. Many bugs were intrigued and excited about this new possibility. A number of skeptics however, were concerned over the government keeping such a large secret from the people for so long. Furthermore, the absence of Spartant officials at the event led to further conflict between the colonies, many Spartant ants believing this to be a power play and threat towards their colony made by the Mountain government. Queen Antcliffe put out a public statement claiming that they believed, due to the already rising tensions, it would be best to “Not put the Spartant officials in such a vulnerable position during such a stressful event,” though many have taken to calling this a poor excuse for the exclusion.
Due to both the Camilo Incident and the release of magic, diplomatic relations between the colonies have further weakened.
[JAN 9 - 28, XXXX]
After the recent escalating tensions, nationalism in both Ant Mountain and Spartant has been on the rise. This has been especially true however for Spartant. Many of the Spartant Royal Court have been chanting Glory to Spartant, drawing crowds to repeat the chant with them. Sentiments of annihilating their enemies and triumph over all have also caught wind writhing Spartant. Most notably, this has been pushed by deep seated loyalist to the Spartant Queen and current spokesperson for the S H R O O M S cult, Royal Court member Hermit Rad.
With the rise in Spartant nationalism, there has been an uptick in pro-Spartant propaganda, well known propaganda cartoonist Zant the Propagandant coming out of retirement in support of Spartant. Though claiming to act on his own, it is believed he has been put to work by Spartant Royal Court member Ant9624, a highly controversial individual in the political sphere.
Whether correlation or causation, bugism has been on the rise in Spartant, climbing with the increasing nationalism. Hatred, fear, distrust, and even violence towards ants from other colonies and other species of bugs has been at an all time high in Spartant. Despite Royal Court Officials such as Jasper the Steampunk Ant attempting to subside and lessen the behavior, it has persisted largely throughout the colony. This has led to further conflict with Ant Mountain, many of the citizens criticizing Spartant for having such an environment. Tensions further increased when ruling Queen of WeavenSong, a close ally of Ant Mountain and split off colony of Spartant, Abyss Weaver got involved, calling out Spartant after they threatened a number of spiders that had their territory invaded.
[FEB 3 - 25, XXXX]
After the disappearance and assumed death of the TAACWEAIA colony, Queen Feraster Antcliffe spoke to the remaining officials of the colony, and they came to the agreement that Feraster would aide in ruling over the colony as a branch colony of Ant Mountain in order to give some form of stability in the wayward colony. Many in Spartants saw this as a power grab to increase the Mountain’s numbers.
Shortly after the acquisition of TAACWEAIA, a new colony, the Leaffall, now Treefall Colony, formed at a tree in between the Mountain-Spartant borders. Queen Antcliffe arrived at the colony, establishing a diplomatic relationship and alliance with the newly forming colony. A few days later, it was discovered that several Spartant elites had shown up as well, but rather than form diplomatic relations with the colony, they performed espionage on the newly formed colony. When this was brought to light, there were no responses given on the matter.
A paperwork trail has also been dug up recently, leading back to a leading Spartant official and a hired hitman. One of the statements found that’s been released so far was “Hey there's a certain colony I need destabilized” followed by “Just a certain mountain”, and though there has been no official confirmation, it is largely assumed that the mountain referred to the Ant Mountain Colony. Once this information was released to the public, outrage spread, and rumors spread faster, many citizens of Ant Mountain once more began to point fingers at Spartant for the previous assassination attempt, the Camilo Incident. Spartant’s officials have yet to comment on the matter.
Most recently, a fully public event took place as several Spartant led raids were subsequently executed on Ant Mountain’s food and resource storage. Though a number of perpetrators were arrested by Spartant law officials and the Inter-Colonial Emergency Services, many of them were let go without charges or repercussions on basis of hearsay, leading to an uproar from Ant Mountain civilians calling for justice of their now ruined and ransacked resources.
[MAR 17 - 21, XXXX]
Recently, Spartant has put out another large-scale propaganda campaign, this one specifically targeted at increasing the size of their standing army. Tensions continue to rise.
Queen Antcliffe attempted to come to some sort of diplomatic agreement in a meeting two days after the launch of the propaganda campaign. The meeting lasted for 18 hours, and all her majesty said when returning to her colony was the statement, “Somebody threw a chair,” whereafter she locked herself in her quarters. She and the council have yet to make a full statement.
[APR, 1 - PRES, XXXX]
Tensions have not gone down and diplomatic relations have all but collapsed. We stand on the verge of all-out war. We are uncertain of the breaking point. Stay safe.

It should also be noted that there will be a few semi-scripted events to keep things on track, though there will still be a large amount of improv.
