it is interesting how the show itself dodged much of the hm. Implications of the louis-claudia relationship present in the novel (though it was absolutely alluded to) vs the approach they seem to be taking re: the new trailer lol. i can’t comment too much because ive only read iwtv but back when s1&2 were coming out people were like “oh they’re scared to depict incest” which i always found an unsatisfying explanation considering what they DID include. not drawing any conclusions just thinking. wondering what the decision making process was there and whether reading tvl would illuminate things for me lol

i hateee the framing I've been seeing going around in some posts of s3 as the incest season presented in opposition to s1+2, the gay sex seasons. 1. crazymaking reductive false dichotomy that does not imply positive things abt ppls perception of louis' story in all its depth and beauty 2. did we not all see what was going on w louis and claudia. which one of you gonna fuck me. it's literally been there from the beginning ppl only care now bc the MC is white. HES allowed a tortured past + incestuous undertones + a gay ex lover all at once. but the show's exploration of these things centering louis in the first two seasons is elided in fandom discussion entirely. i wonder why
