So I'm doing Chemistry atm and I came across this
Volumetric Analysis (bet you ex-year 12er's are missing all of this) 1. A known volume of one of the solutions is measured using a pipette and tranferred into a conical flask. The volume measured out by the pipette is called an aliquot. You should always draw the liquid into a pipette using safety filter. Do not use your mouth. LOL at last part, could you imagine.
