I’ve finished 3 beanies so far for my daughter’s friend’s mom who is going through chemo. My daughter can’t knit because she hairline-fractured her left (dominant hand) wrist. And I can’t do much BUT knit because of these broken and then re-broken ribs. The pattern above was called Chemo Cap with a Message and originally said “Cancer sucks,” but I turned it into “Cancer, Yuck!” The designer asked to feature my picture with the changes on her pattern page.
Second was this soft bulky cotton-blend leaf lace beanie with overlap band. I published the pattern as “Ddail, Meddal” on Ravelry. The pin-back attitude button was just a place holder until I received a large vintage button for the band, in the mail.
Third so far is what I called “Ventilated Beret,” a very simple and fast Yo, K2tog pattern in very soft bulky acrylic. I steam-blocked it around a rather flat wide serving bowl, and I love how it turned out.
I have 2 more on the needles and 2 more I want to do this coming week, so that she has a good variety.
