DAMN ok so today I resolved to finally find my medical records to hunt down the doctor who put in my port, so the new onco can ask him to please yank it out bc I'm done with it - I called four different offices because I really truly cannot remember anything about it, couldn't locate any paperwork hints, and frankly couldn't even narrow down which city it happened it because it was 2018 and I've gotten plenty o' brain damage since then.

Anyway I finally found the right office (the lady on the other line knew me from when I was a kid and m brother hung out with her son lol so I assured her I was in remission and all was well) but they didn't even have a doctor on record

They did find the radiologist, so I told the new doc that info because it's ALL I HAD but they want me to hit up my old onco to see if I can sign a release for my record AAAAAHHHHHH. I hate phone calls! I am being VERY brave! Just two more and hopefully maybe I can get this goddamn tube out of my heart !!!!!

I decided to celebrate this first day of spring with a little therapeutic surgery. That purple chemo port was embedded in my chest for almost four years; it was dug out of there. today. It’s a really big event in the life of a cancer patient. You did good work. Slayed the dragon and didn’t slay me. OMG...Reebok Crossfit Open workout 15.4 has Handstand push-ups and Cleans at 125lbs rx for women. I can do this....oh wait, I just had my port implanted for upcoming chemo. Why did it have to be cleans!!! 125lbs being lifted and rested right where the port line is. It could get smashed with those heavy cleans. Not so sure if it will be safe for me to do it. I really don't want the "Open" to close for me just yet. With treatments not starting till April 1st, I may still have a chance at completing the last workout. Feeling hopeful.

Chem Port

December 9th

I will be going back to surgery to have a chem port installed in my chest. The procedure was done in fifteen minutes, but waiting for an open surgery room was the long part. I had been around the hospital so much that I felt like a veteran.

The chem port is a very neat invention. The chemicals used to treat cancer are very toxic to veins so tapping them with an IV can cause them to go bad. A Chem port gives access to a larger vein, which is closer to the heart, so it can pump the chemicals without ruining the smaller veins.

I found it ironic that it was a great idea to pump the toxins that cause veins to deteriorate directly into my heart. However the heart is resilient and strong , it can take the abuse. Soon my heart will be back to full health, the chem port will be removed and I will be back to normal.
