"So what do we do?" Lucy asked. "Call 911 and alert them of the situation and who we are" Tim nodded as he checked the mirror again. "Alright" Lucy nodded and called 911.
As Lucy was explaining what was going on Tim kept making sharp turns. Trying to lose this guy, he didn't want to show his worry because he didn't want to freak out Lucy. He would slow down and break check the guy and then speed up but there was no losing this guy. Tim makes a quick turn down a dirt road path, with no lights on the road. He turned his high beams on and snaked down the road.
"TIM slows down," Lucy said. "I got this,'' Tim said as he grabbed Lucy's hand. "I got you" he kissed the back of her hand before returning his hand on the wheel. "Tim, just please slow down," she said. "Alright," he said as he slowed down as he was going down the dirt road.
He looked in his mirror and the guy was still following them. He didn't realize that he was running out of the road and was about to go off a cliff. The last thing he could remember was Lucy's scream when they went over the cliff and into the lake. The impact knocked them out for a few seconds. Tim was out longer than Lucy but once he woke up he didn't remember what happened.
"BRADFORD" Lucy screamed. "What?" He said as he shook his head. "What the hell is going on?" he asked. "We just ran off the road," she said. "Are you ok? We gotta get out of here" he said as he tried to undo his belt. It was stuck but Lucy took a knife and cut him free. "We gotta get out of here," she said. "I know," he said as he started trying to punch the windows, trying everything to get free before they went fully under. "Do you have anything to break the window?" she asked. "It's in the back of the truck" he sighed. "Listen," he said as he placed his hands on her face. "I love you," he said. "I love you too and we will get out of this," she said. "Don't give up on me," she said. "I'm not giving up on you, just wanted to say those words" he chuckled slightly. "I love you Bradford and that isn't the last time you hear those words," she said as she rested her forehead against his.
They took their last breath before being fully submerged in the water. They continued to try to get out of the car, finally, Tim took the knife and tried to bust the window. Once again nothing seemed to work and soon they passed out from the lack of oxygen. The next thing Lucy say was a light flashing in her eyes, she opened her eyes wondering what happened.
"SHES AWAKE," Nolan said. "Thank god," Nyla said. "What's going on?" Lucy asked as she tried to sit up but Nolan wouldn't let her. "Just lay down, you and Tim were in an accident," Nolan said. "Where is he?" Lucy asked as her heart started to race. "They are working on him," Nolan nodded. "Working? Is he ok? Nolan please" Lucy said as she started crying. "Don't expect the worst, I'm sure he will be ok. They are on their way to the hospital" Nolan said.
They loaded Lucy in another ambulance but she wouldn't let Nolan leave her so he rode with her to the hospital. They checked her over and besides the mental trauma, she was fine. They released her and she waited in the waiting room with everyone else. Waiting for any news on Tim, as the day before.
"Any news?" Wes asked as he walked back into the ER. "Not yet," Angela nodded. "Lucy, do you need anything?" Nolan asked. "No," Lucy said. "I know it's soon but the officers want to take your statement," Grey said. "OK," Lucy nodded and went with the other officers.
After she made her statements she went back to the waiting room. There was still no news, just everyone waiting. It seems like something was going on down the hallway because they were yelling. The doctor rushed out to the waiting room, looking around.
"Is there a Lucy here?" the doctor asked. "Yes that's me," Lucy said as she stood up. "Please come and calm him down, he's looking for you," the doctor said. "Yes," Lucy nodded and followed the doctor. "WHERE IS SHE? YOU AREN'T TOUCHING ME UNTIL I KNOW WHERE SHE IS" Tim yelled at the nurse. "Babe calm down, I'm here," Lucy said as she grabbed his hand. "Oh thank god you're ok," he said as he pulled her close to him. "I'm ok but they need to help you," she said as she pushed him back to sit on the bed. "I just wanted to make sure you were ok," he said. "I know," Lucy nodded. "May I do my job now?" The nurse asked. "Yea sorry" Tim nodded. "Thank you," She said as she started to clean up the wound, that he reserved the other day that had opened back up. "Did you talk to the other officers?" Tim asked as he pulled Lucy close to him. "Yea I made my statement, they want to hear from you as well" she nodded as she played with his hand. "Alright," he said. "Are you ok?" he asked. "Yea" she nodded. "No you're not, Lucy, this is me you're talking to," he said. "It's ok," he said. "I'm fine," She said. "Alright," he nodded.
They finished stitching him back up and he went to make his statement. They talked to the rest of the team and then everyone went home. Lucy went back to her apartment with Tim but she was very quiet. She took a quick shower as he lay on the bed, by the time she got out he was asleep. She covered him up and went into the living room. She sat on the couch and just stared at the wall, just allowing her mind to wander. Who would want to harm them? Who would want to follow them? Was it even supposed to end like that? There were so many questions and she didn't have an answer to them. She didn't realize how late it got until Tim came out into the living room.
"Hey" he whispered. "Oh hey," she said as she snapped out of her mind, looking at him. "Come to bed," he said as he reached his hand out to her. "I can't sleep," she said. "Want to talk about it?" he asked as he sat beside her, placing his hand on her leg. "Not really," she sighed. "It's not good to bottle it up," he said. "I know," she nodded. "I have so many questions and no answers" she ran her hand through her hair. "Well ask and I'll try to answer," he said. "Why?" she looked at him. "Why us?" she asked. "They haven't found the guy so I don't have that answer," he said. "Was it meant to be us? Was it meant to happen? Or did it just happen?" she said as she started to spiral. "Hey hey shhh," he said as he grabbed her hands. "Just breathe," he said.
She closed her eyes trying to calm down. He kept her hands in his as he tried to calm her down. She finally looked at him and mimicked his breathing so she would calm down. He wrapped his arms around her and just held her close to him. She rested her head against his chest, just listening to his heartbeat as she started to drift to sleep. He kissed her forehead and wrapped a blanket around her. He shifted slightly so he leaned back against the couch as he also started to drift off to sleep. In the morning he was awakened by Lucy making breakfast. He rubbed his eyes as he watched her. He smiled to himself before getting up, making his way behind her. He placed his arm around her waist which freaked her out and she pulled away quickly. He was taken back by this so he stepped back, leaning against the counter.
"Did I do something?" he asked. "No, I'm sorry," she said. "After last night," she said. "I understand," he nodded. "I didn't mean to freak you out," he said. "I'm sorry Tim," she said as she walked over to him, wrapping her arms around his neck. "It's ok," he said as he placed his hands on her hips, leaning down and kissing her softly. "Morning," he whispered. "Morning" she smiled against his lips. "Did I hit you?" she asked. "No," he said as he leaned back down, kissing her once again. "Someone is feisty this morning," she smiled. "Well I have you in my arms so," he said. "You are something else," she said. "Yea and you love it," he said as he kissed the tip of her nose. "Uh-huh," she playfully rolled her eyes before turning back to cooking.
She finished cooking and placed a plate of food in front of him. She grabbed her plate and sat next to him as they started to eat. After they finished eating Lucy started to clean up while Tim received a phone call. He stepped into her room while on the phone as she continued to clean up the kitchen. While cleaning the kitchen she was trying to listen to TIms conversation. Not paying attention to what she was doing, she dropped a glass onto the floor.
"Shit," she said as she grabbed a towel and the broom. "Whoa hold on," Tim said as he placed the phone down, making his way into the kitchen. "I got it," Lucy said. "Yea sure with no shoes on," he said as he grabbed the broom from her. He picked her up and placed her on the counter as he cleaned it up. "I'm sorry," she said. "Don't be, it happens" he nodded as he finished. "Who was on the phone?" she questioned, "Just Grey, telling me the updates" he nodded. "Oh," she nodded. "Any updates?" she asked. "Yea they found the guy but he's not talking," he said. "Well let's go question him," she said as she got off the counter. "No we aren't allowed to question him, we aren't in this case," he said as he grabbed her arm. "But it happened to us so we know what happened," she said. "Yea and it's too personal for us because IT did happen to you and me," he said.
She sighed because she knew he was right. She just hated the idea of just waiting around and doing nothing. She always wanted to be involved and help. He pulled her closer to him, placing his hands on her hips. She wrapped her arm around his neck, leaning in and kissing him softly.
"I know you want to do something but in this case, we just can't," he nodded as he rubbed his hand up and down her sides. "I know you are right, it just sucks" She sighed as she leaned her head against his chest. "Grey just wants us to relax and not worry about what's going on," he said. "Ok, I'll try, '' she said. "I can distract you" he smirked as he grabbed her chin, lifting it so she was looking at him. "I'm sure you can," she smiled as she looked at him.
He placed his hand against her cheek, brushing his thumb against her lips. Then he leaned down kissing her softly but with passion, she kept the kiss between them. She grabbed his hips, keeping him close to her. He smiled and grabbed her hips, picking her up and placing her on the counter. Moving between her legs as he moved his lips down to her neck. She leaned back allowing moans to escape her lips. He pulled up her shirt, removing it and throwing it on the floor. Kissing down her neck to her collarbone, driving her wild. She ran her hand up to his chest and moved them to the back of his head as he continued down her chest. Moving between both breasts as he sucked and gently nibbled at her nipples.
"Take me," she moaned. "I got you" he smirked and picked her up, taking her to the bedroom.
He laid her on the bed, grabbing her wrist and pinning them above her head. Moving his lips back against her neck as she arched into him. His hands roamed over her body, making sure she didn't move her hands. He slowly started moving down her body, sucking and nibbling at her skin. She surely forgot what had happened the other night with his mouth on her. It was the perfect distraction, all day. She laid her head down on his chest as they both were trying to catch their breaths. She pulled the blanket around them as she traced patterns on his chest. He kissed her forehead softly before holding her close. They both drifted off to sleep. She woke up in the morning, realizing that he was no longer in the bed. She got up out of bed and made her way into the kitchen, where she smelled coffee. He smiled as he saw her walking into the kitchen, handing her a cup of coffee. She leaned against the counter and looked at him.
"He's been arrested but still hasn't talked about why," he said. "Ok," she nodded. "You ok?" he asked. "Yea" she took a sip of her coffee. "Are you sure?" He looked at her. "Yea," she said as she went to sit at the table.
He could tell that something was wrong but decided not to push her. He knew that eventually she would come to him and talk to him about whatever was bothering her. He finished making breakfast and placed the plates on the table. They both ate in silence and after they finished she cleaned up the kitchen. He ended up leaving the apartment to go back to his place, so she could have some alone time.
"So mind telling me what's wrong?" Tamera asked as she sat next to Lucy. "I'm fine," Lucy nodded. "I know you," Tamera said. "It's about Tim," Lucy sighed. "What about him?" Tamera asked. "I thought you two were happy," She said. "We are happy" Lucy nodded. "But to be honest, ever since we got together bad things keep happening to him," Lucy said. "That has nothing to do with you" Tamera tried to reassure Lucy. "It's hard not to think that," Lucy admitted. "I know but it has nothing to do with you," Tamera said. "It's just bad luck," she said. "Yea" Lucy nodded. "I mean it," Tamera said as she placed her hand on Lucy's leg. "Thanks," Lucy said.
Lucy decided to get up and leave the house, she wanted to go to the station. Since Tim left her apartment she didn't have to hear his opinion about going to the station. She made her way to the station, parking in her normal spot. While walking in she noticed Tim's car parked in the parking lot. She rolled her eyes and sighed knowing that he lied to her. She walked into the station and went straight to Gray's office and of course, Tim was already there.
"Oh Lucy is here as well," Gray said. "Yes I am," Lucy nodded. "Ready for a shift," she said. "Weird, Tim said the same thing," Gray said. "Oh," Lucy nodded. "I'm sure we can ride together," she said, "Yea sure" Gray nodded. "I'll go change and get the shop ready" Lucy nodded towards Tim. "Lucy," Tim said as she walked out.
She didn't look back; she went into the locker room and changed into her uniform. She walked right past him and got the shop ready before getting into the car. He got into the car and pulled out of the station, it was painfully silent in the car. They both didn't know what to say so they just focused on doing the job.
"Look I know you are mad at me but can I explain?" Tim finally said. "No," Lucy said as she looked out the window. "It's not what it seems, I wasn't there to talk to the guy who ran us off the road," he said. "Whatever" Lucy said. "Lucy," Tim sighed. "I'm sorry," he said as he placed his hand on her leg. "I've been going stir crazy and you tell me not to go to work but it's the first thing you do when you leave my place," she said. "No it's not, Gray called about a case," he said. "Yea ok Tim" she rolled her eyes. "I'm serious," he said. "And then I decided to just go on the clock," he said. "Ok," Lucy said. "I'm sorry, I was just about to call you when you walked in," he said. "Were you?" she looked at him. "Of course I was," he said as he looked at her. "I believe you," she nodded. "But there is something I want to talk about later," she said. "Sure, I wanted to talk to you as well," he nodded. "Dinner tonight?" he asked. "Sounds good" she nodded as she placed her hand over his.
They continued with the shift and soon it was over. Since it wasn't a full shift, Gray was trying to get them back into it slowly. They left the station and went their ways to get ready for the night. She was getting ready when Tamera walked in, sitting on the bed.
"Fancy dinner?" Tamera asked. "It's the last dinner," Lucy said as she looked in the mirror. "What?" Tamera asked. "I'm ending things with Tim tonight," Lucy said. "Why?" Tamera asked. "You two just got together," she said. "Because since being with me, he's been getting hurt and distracted on the job," Lucy said. "It's for the best," she nodded. "If you say so, I don't think it is," Tamera said. "I feel like it's for the best," Lucy said. "Ok, well good luck" Tamera said as she hugged Lucy. "He surely won't let you go easy," She said. "I know it will be hard," Lucy sighed.
Lucy grabbed her bag and headed out the door. She took a cab to the restaurant, just sitting in the back lost in thought. Tim was standing outside of the restaurant. Opening the door of the cab when he realized she was inside. He held his hand out and she grabbed it, getting out of the car. They walked into the restaurant and were seated right away.
"So what are you getting?" Tim asked. "Um, probably the pasta," she nodded. "Are you ok?" He asked. "Yea I'm fine" She nodded. "Are you sure?" he asked but before she could answer the waiter came to the table. They ordered their food and the conversation fell silent. "So what was it that you wanted to talk about?" she asked. "Oh yea I was thinking about giving you a key to my place, maybe we could move in together," he said. "What?" she looked at him shocked. "Yea we are always together, I just thought it would be easier," he said. "Oh," she said as she took a deep breath in. This conversation was already hard and it was getting harder, she knew she needed to say it. "You think it's too fast?" he asked. "Um I guess, '' she started to say, and once again the waiter came in, interrupting the conversation once again. "Thank you," Tim said as he nodded toward the waiter. "No problem, Enjoy," the waiter said before walking away.
Once again the conversation fell silent as they started to eat. It was killing him not knowing what was going on, doubting himself if he should've asked her to move in. Finally, they finished eating and he paid the bill. He reached for her hand as they left the restaurant. He led her back to his truck, helping her get in. He made his way to the driver's side and they just sat in silence again.
"Did I rush into asking you to move in?" he asked. "No you didn't," she said. "Ok so why the silence? What was it that you wanted to talk about?" he asked. "Tim this isn't easy and you are the perfect guy but I don't think we should be together," She said. "Wait what?" he asked as he looked at her. "I'm sorry," she said as she opened the door. "No, we need to talk about this," he said as he grabbed her hand. "I'm sorry Tim," She said as she allowed her tears to run from her eyes onto her cheeks. "Why are you saying this?" he asked. "Because of me you keep getting hurt," she said. "That's not true," He said. "They call the other day with the bullet and then the accident" she placed her head in her hands. "That was bad luck" he placed his hand on her back, rubbing it gently. "You are my world and I don't want to lose that" he choked up. "I love you Bradford but I can't see you getting hurt," she said. "And I don't want to lose you," he said as he tilted her chin up so she was looking at him. "I love you," he said. "I love you" she looked at him. "We got this and we aren't breaking up" He leaned his forehead against hers, brushing her tears away with his thumb. "I didn't want to but I don't want you to be hurt," she said. "It will be ok" he leaned in, kissing her softly.
She kept the kiss between them as she started to calm down. He wasn't going to lose her so he made sure she knew that his getting hurt had nothing to do with her. They agreed to slow things down in the relationship and just share keys for now.
