In the Dark||Ceres and Emmeryn

Ylisstol had fallen. To save her people from the terror Gangrel would inflict upon them if he occupied the city to lay siege to the palace, Emmeryn willingly surrendered herself and was taken over the border into Plegia. The road had been long and hard, and her captors had mocked her at every chance they got. Her imprisonment was no different.
For what seemed like weeks, Emmeryn’s cell was visited by Plegian soldiers and citizens alike. Many came to blame or insult her for her father’s war. Others only seemed to want to look at her, hoping to see the hope fade from her eyes. Yet the Exalt was calm and patient. She had endured this before. She could endure it again.
When one of the last visitors of the day had left, Emmeryn sighed and patted the bits of rotten vegetables off of herself. People had more to throw at her today than simply insults. She looked up to the sound of another set of footsteps and prepared herself for whatever was to come.
“Good evening,” she spoke quietly, “I apologize for the-- Ceres? It can’t be. Is that you?”
