((ohmygosh!! Hi! I’m sorry it’s been forever since I logged in here! Between life stuff and low motivation, I was kinda afraid of how (if at all) I was gonna come back, but I got convinced by a friend to give it another shot! I think I need to drop all of my old threads before I start again, but I’ll post a starter call real soon, I promise!!))

[ASK-FREDERICK’S 5TH ANNIVERSARY]

Five years ago today, I was a bored undergrad with a copy of Fire Emblem Awakening. Now, I am a mildly-entertained post-grad with an ask blog that has somehow survived half a decade. And I owe it all to you, my wonderful readers! Through thick and thin, you all have stuck with me and helped me grow as both a writer and a person. I’ve seen followers here from the start, followers who are a bit newer, and followers who have come and gone sporadically, and damn has it been an adventure!

So, to celebrate – not just this blog – but everyone of you who has contributed to its growth and survival: I’m going to be offering five $10 iTunes or Google Play Gift Cards that will be given away at random at the end of the month. Every like and reblog counts as a raffle number, and you can only enter the running twice. Numbers will be chosen using a random number generator and announced on the first of May. You have to be following this blog when the raffle numbers are announced, and new followers are always welcome.

“And so are... you...!” the former Exalt chimed back happily. “Lucia... and Geoffrey... they sound like... wonderful people... to be around... It’s... so nice to know... that people you love... good people... are there for you... Do you... Do you think... we’ll all... get to meet someday...?”

Loved them…? Somewhere in his memories, he remembers a tall man, blue hair, ..his features were…blurred for him to remember clearly but he knows that he was smiling, wasn’t he? If he could just..meet him, question him why did he choose this path? What evil was he afraid of to resort to this method? Not only they were hurt, everyone did.

A red hue tainted his cheeks when his older sister kissed his forehead. As much as he hated when someone treated him like a child, he found it relaxing, peaceful whenever Emmeryn does it. It reminds him of the good time he had with his sisters whenever it was possible. “Can..be?…What do I want to do with my …life? Love…” he arched his head slightly, trying to think of the question. Even if it was a simple question, for him it was still….unclear. “I know one thing for sure…I want to stand by your side, help you realize your wish. Help you achieve peace. Is it..a good reason to live my life?”

“It’s a good start, dearest Chrom,” she replied, softening her gaze, “but my dreams and I shouldn’t be your only reason for going on. I know you love me and your sister and our people, but you can’t follow my lead forever. I can only guide you for so long. You’ll have to find your own path in life someday, and I’d like it to be one you can feel proud to walk.”

Ooooo Rep time. Alright, so when I first came to Tumbles like two years ago, I remember reading RP threads between you and Ask-Frederick. I couldn't help but think, "WOW. Top notch writers!! This is the level I aspire to be." And TO THIS DAY you are still what I consider one of the top blogs in the FE RP community

((ohmygosh I really not sure how to respond to this. It means a lot to know that you feel that way about how I run my Emm, and I have a lot of respect for the way you run your muses too! (You’re really brave to RP an unapologetic villain and really talented to write them so well.) C and I kinda slowed down with our RPs as we both got busier, so I assumed people kinda lost interest in my blog, but I really appreciate that you’ve stuck with me for so long! Thank you!!))

Despite it irritating her that she still insisted on being nice, Yusra managed to keep her cool. As much as she hated having to accept the gift, she had to just calmly accept it. 

She’ll force a way she can pay her back another time.

With her work done, there wasn’t much reason for her to stay here. She stood up and stretched her arms over her head. “I’ve overstayed my welcome here, so I’m leaving. Try and look after yourself… or don’t. Do whatever you feel like doing, I guess.”

“Y-You too...” the former Exalt replied, an awkward smile on her face as she watched the Wyvern Lord turn to walk away. Maybe Yusra had understood her on some level, but it would take a while before she came to see Emmeryn as anything close to being a friend. Her clumsy response probably hadn’t helped much either...

“I-I mean... take care of...” Before Emmeryn could finish correcting herself, Yusra was gone. The former Exalt sighed and returned to her chair to read her book in peace. Maybe that was for the best...

Was that something that she could do? Severa knew some a bit of new medical herbs thanks to the former exalt, but to actually try healing magic? “I… I guess I could try it?” the redhead paused for a moment, thinking about something. “Is it possible to heal.. without a staff?”

“Yes... well, maybe a little... but... I was thinking of teaching you... how to use Ward...” Emmeryn replied, exhaling as she finished her healing spell. She hoped that the balm and her healing magic together would be enough to wipe away all evidence of the terrible burn poor Severa suffered. “It’s... staff magic... you use to... shield others... and it’s... helpful... when dealing with... strong mages...”

I was… raised to be a knight, and only taught about court at all in case of… emergencies. So I did prank people, and learn to pick locks, and get into all sorts of trouble… but I did so as a trainee, not a Princess, if that makes sense.”

“It does, but... I don’t see... the difference...” Emmeryn remarked. “Lissa... she’s a princess... but she’s also... a Shepherd... and a person too... She makes people... happy... by being herself... I... I’m not Exalt anymore... so maybe I’m wrong... but I think that’s... what princesses are supposed to do...”

“I… maybe you’re right…” she sighed again, feeling a bit defeated now. How did Levin Swords even work? Why couldn’t other magic work with it? Or was she just that dumb?

As Emmeryn began her healing spell, she couldn’t help but feel like she had hardly helped Severa at all. This obviously meant a lot to the young mercenary, but the former Exalt wasn’t any kind of expert in offensive magic. All she had was...

“Severa...?” she asked in the middle of her spell. “M-Maybe... you’d like to learn... something from me...? I can’t... teach you... to make your sword stronger... with fire or thunder... but I can teach you... how to protect yourself... and other people... with a kind of... healing magic...”

“You’re not mad?” She asked nervously, relaxing once it became clear that she wasn’t. She was ready to take the crown off when Emmeryn walked into the room, but she froze up as she got closer, shrinking back at first from pure reflex before steadying herself. She let her aunt fiddle with the crown, adjusting it and playing with her pigtails until it fit right - and she looked at herself in the mirror, and almost felt like crying. She looked like how she’d always hoped she would, like a royal rather than an outcast with the same hair, and she had to blink a few times as she got herself under control. The thing was heavier than she’d expected, and here she’d thought that heavy lays the crown was strictly a metaphor.

“I think so too.” She said eventually. Her hair normally got too unruly to let down for long, but she took the crown off for a few seconds. It wasn’t just the unruly nature, she thought as she tugged at one band carelessly, but it made her look more like Lucina than she cared to admit - as if someone had taken a curling iron to the elder princess’ hair in a haphazard manner, making it wavy and twisted rather than straight. “It’s getting caught.”

Emmeryn carefully worked Cynthia’s hair around the crown until the side Cynthia let down concealled the golden band without getting tangled up in her locks. Her hair was so much more like Lissa’s or Sumia’s than Lucina’s, but thought it was beautiful all the same.

”I’ll do... the other side too... okay...? Even my hair... gets caught... if I’m not careful...” Waiting for Cynthia’s permission before getting started, the former Exalt followed the same steps she had before until Cynthia’s hair was free from her pigtails and flowing freely. “There... You look... beautiful, Cynthia... I think this... suits you...”

“Indeed.” She nodded. “Which I think is for the best. Lucia’s temprament is fine for a knight, but… she’s colder than I. More… accustomed to the shadows. She could not shoulder the emotional burden of the crown, nor would she want the attention. Lissa’s bright spirit makes her a fine princess… most of the time.”

“Hehe... you mean... when she isn’t... pranking people...?” the former Exalt giggled. “I-I don’t understand... the frogs and worms... but she can... make her voice... sound just like Chrom’s... Poor Frederick... he gets so confused...!” Emmeryn laughed again and looked at Elincia. “Princesses... they aren’t supposed to do that... are they...? You... You didn’t... prank people... when you were a princess... did you...?”

“I… It’s like the Levin Sword, but with Fire magic instead.” she sighed, but that was the easiest way to explain it. “I always thought.. as a kid… infusing magic with a sword, lance, and axe, it would become stronger.” That it was something only I could do to surpass Mother.

The former Exalt shook her head and reached for her staff. “Severa... I don’t know much... about fighting... but what you want to do... it sounds... advanced...” Emmeryn paused briefly to charge her staff. “Maybe... Maybe you could take... some lessons... in magic... before you try again...”
