Polynesian Cocktail
The Polynesian Cocktail is really an attempt at making a cocktail taste tropical with traditional bar ingredients. There are no native Polynesian spirits, so vodka is an acceptable base. The flavor comes from cherry brandy, which would be very rich if it wasn't for the citrus juices. In the photo I'm paying homage to Duke Kahanamoku, the famous Hawaiian surfer, with this necklace of shells and coaster. These ideas are loosely connected to the theme of Polynesia.

GSN Original Cocktail: The 1626
1626 2.5 oz. Woodford Reserve Bourbon 0.75 oz. Hiram Walker Gingerbread Liqueur 1/2 tsp Cherry Heering 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
Pour ingredients into mixing glass, stir with cracked ice for 20 seconds, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a Luxardo cherry.

Great Dane
This is a cherry bomb of a cocktail. I haven't made it for a long time because I was waiting until I got some Heering cherry brandy. This liqueur is really not quite a brandy, but it is exactly what is called for in this Danish-themed drink. I also used Common Wealth Gin, which has a very American character and less of a juniper presence so that it wouldn't get in the way of the cherry flavors. kirschwasser, even so small a proportion, really changes the mouthfeel to something stronger and thicker than a gin and liqueur drink.
