Hii, I came across your blog and saw that you're a writer so I just wanted to ask you a question on smut, if that's okay. So I'm in the middle of my 2nd draft for my first book and there's only one scene that is sort of smutty. The most I wrote about is sucking and touching of nipples, feeling of pleasures, touching of the skin, but I don't mention any other parts of the body nor have the characters have sex (they get interrupted.) So my question was, is this still considered 'smut' or maybe a 'spicy' scene? What do I call it? Thanks for any advice!
hi! that is definitely okay! (And congrats on your draft!!) a lot of my experience (in terms of like - rating?) is fic-based or from book reviews on instagram, so I am not sure if this would be the most accurate answer (but I will try!) 💖
for me, smut is explicitly-described sexual acts through completion, open-door. usually when I see spice it’s notating the degree of the smut (like a spice scale?). I think you could use the word ‘steamy’? To me that implies the tension and physical lead-up to an open/closed-door scene.
(if you see this & have thoughts, please let me know and I’ll reblog!)
