i know it's a little thing, but yeah, i absolutely hate how the pages are divided on cherami when you exceed one page. i don't even know why you'd ever want it the current way, other than maybe limiting how much needs to load or be scrolled past? it's incredibly frustrating to have to keep switching pages when working on a response to check stuff just a few responses back, or just to read the last response.
I've got nothing wrong with the pagination really, but I do think it's a very good idea to have the live page at minimum like ten posts back, maybe more (to consider a lot of ooc chatter, though the 'hide ooc' option is also good for that anyway)
Another thing I've noticed that I think is much more important is that when I look at my prompts, I always lose one between pages. I've been paying attention now that I've noticed and there's always one that isn't visible until I bump a prompt from an older page and it pushes it back out at the cost of the prompt on the bottom of the page before. I can still find the prompt if I like. Go to a tag I used for it, or hide tags to make older prompts load on the first page, but I've got a bad memory as is and I'm unfortunately very 'out of sight, out of mind' most of the time.
the thing is, I think this may have been a thing even before they dropped the amount to 10 instead of the 20 (or 25, can't remember) it was before, because I made a couple tickets in the past due to not being able to find a prompt of mine using the page for it. They found it, confirming I hadn't accidentally deleted it or anything, and I just bumped it and kept on with what I was doing. But now that the pages are shorter, more prompts are getting hidden between them and it's a lot more noticeable.
I don't think it affects the chats I currently have as far as I can tell since they have set numbers to their pages, but since the directory works the same way, I have to wonder if there are starters up that are just unfortunately getting hidden between pages before getting pushed out when a new one comes in, but by that point it's on a new page and less likely to be seen.
Of course, I get it. Previous iterations of Homestuck RP site were great, but we are also all collectively blinded by nostalgia glasses. Like cherubplay was the wild fucking west sometimes, anything could pop up. I swear I saw slave owner sassacre like six different times, there was a nazi Eridan. There was also fart fetish Dave but he was different.
The owner wasn't really into making a lot of rules for the content you could post there, and the fandom was large at that point. And Freaky.
No wait. Excuse me.

SASSACRE..,,,..,,,,,
I get what you’re saying I really do, but one of the best parts of cherp for me was the tagging system, now it’s all jumbled and ugh. I know they wouldn’t care if I left but it’s like the final nail in the coffin of me leaving homestuck.
Goodbye, old friend.
Looks like Cherubplay's finally gone for good.
Throwing a bad gateway and has for a day or so now. Everyone pour one out for a real one, and all the RPs we had over the years there. I hope y'all nabbed your logs with the provided feature those years ago so you can still enjoy em.
Man I'm bent, I had this really good VrisRadia thing going there, aw man. Its like a decade old by now but it was SOOOOOOOO good.
Here's to being the GOAT, cherubplay. Rest well.
I was wondering if when you asked for their discord or when you exchanged discords, they were also verified? Cherp rules are kinda confusing and contradictory in certain parts like when it says you can’t move off site unless all are verified, but then the next rule says no discord exchanges or any social media exchanges. So then how would we move off site? Is it even okay if all are verified, but then you can’t even drop your discord handle without being banned?
lmao thank you for reminding me abt all that shit with Cherp it's been so long since i checked up on it. For the record it's still the only place (online or irl) I've ever been permanently banned and I think it's a really funny example of how you can take an active IP with a built in user base and still manage to fuck it up by being so deeply unprofessional and toxic that you're not worth putting up with. Twitter wishes it could blow up like Cherp.
If you think the rules are confusing and contradictory now you should have seen them back in the day, Throughout Cherubplay's entire existence there was never a ban on off-site promotion or exchanges and Cherp's rules about when/how interaction are acceptable have been showing up piecemeal ever since. At the time i was permanently banned the website had recently updated their rules stating that exchanging information was liable for a week suspension. Another user and I (who told me they regularly requested discord usernames with no issues and was not suspended when I was) exchange discords, I log in the next morning, my account has been permanently removed.
I join their discord group and learn that in the discord they decided the rules are changing now and all information exchanges are a permaban, if you weren't in the offsite discord to know that then tough shit, you're still gone.
I went through most of the important people on the mod team trying to discuss this, most seemed pissed that I dare question their supreme judgement Reddit mod style. I'm not exactly surprised the types of personalities who ran and ruined old-school RP forums still exist in lots of nerd spaces. I remember specifically bringing up that at the time the rule I'd been perma'd for still showed up on the website as a max 1 week suspension, the response was "we can decide to ban you for any reason, go away."
Like yeah! You sure can do that! It also just makes you a raging asshole and the last person that should have a customer facing position in your team.
One day someone's gonna do a YouTube essay deep dive on all the random bullshit that happened with their donations/ID verification/etc. but my brief experience with the whole team made me feel like they were the last people you should trust your personal information with. Also I'm not saying I'm a cyber crimes expert but either the problems the site faced w the FBI were unique (in which case, what the fuck) or they were trumped up to cover their asses when they faced public pushback (in which case, what the fuck).
idk dude all i can say is that i hope one day the nerds get the roleplay site they deserve
Hey does anyone know what happened to terminallycapricious the roleplay site?? I can’t find a lick about it lmao

Re: CherubPSAs, I never made those, but I was the original "Group Chat Fairy", aka the guy that would connect to Group Prompts that had been sitting idle in the directory for a long time with one missing person, so the people waiting around could actually start their RP. Remember that? I quit Cherub for a bit (it dragged me back, obviously, it always does) and I later heard someone else had taken up my mantle while I was gone then got banned for it. I felt bad that they got banned for helping people, but also I had to laugh because I faced exactly zero consequences. Cherub was definitely a Lawless place, but it was sure fun.
Damn, I didn't even know that was a thing, that's pretty cool! Do you know if anyone ever got pissed off at you for it, or were people generally pretty cool about you connecting?
Slave Plantation SakuNaru I. Does anyone remember if that was tagged SFW or not, because I feel like it was but it just. I remember how fucking it blew up on the tag and on the site too I think? Was it Cherp or Cherub?
